Chapter 7 A Future
- Alpha’s Office**
- Xander entered the office and Willow who was standing in front of Orion immediately bowed and went out.
- "I was waiting for your call" Xander said
- Alpha Orion said nothing as he opened the pages of the report in front of him
- Xander sat down
- "Is there something you are not telling me about??" He asked and Orion looked up
- "That girl....The Omega" He muttered and Xander raised his brows
- "Turns out she's my mate" Alpha Orion said and Xander’s eyes widened
- "When did you find out?" He asked
- Orion let out a long sigh. He knew this wasn't going to be easy.
- "From that moment in the woods" Orion replied and Xander nodded
- "That's crazy and unexpected...what are you planning to do now?" He asked
- "You don't expect me to accept her as my mate right?" Alpha Orion asked
- "Don't tell me you're planning to reject her...."
- "I'm not planning to,I don't want her" Alpha Orion said
- Xander was stunned. He had never heard Alpha Orion speak so bluntly, so cruelly. He was always so calm and composed, even in the face of adversity. But now, he was cold and ruthless. It was like he was a different person entirely.
- "But....why?" Xander asked
- "What type of Luna does the moon pack need right now?" Alpha Orion asked and Xander thought for a while
- "Strong,Great leader and more...why are you asking?"
- "Exactly, that wolf is too weak to become the Luna of this pack" Alpha Orion said and Xander was quiet before speaking up
- "But you don't know that for sure," Xander said. "You haven't even given her a chance. You don't know what she's capable of."
- "I know enough," Orion said, his voice firm. "I saw her in the woods. She's nothing but a weak, sniveling creature. She's not fit to be a Luna, let alone my Luna."
- Xander couldn't believe what he was hearing. It was like Alpha Orion was determined to reject his mate no matter what. It didn't matter what Xander said, he wouldn't change his mind. And that thought scared him.
- "I understand you're thinking about the pack and others but what about you?" He asked and Alpha Orion looked up
- "What do you mean?" He asked
- "I'm saying...don't you feel attracted to her?? At all?? I mean, she's your mate and I understand how it always feels like when you meet your mate especially when you've been searching for years" Xander said and Orion rolled her eyes
- "Asher is crazy about her,but that's not me" Alpha Orion said and Asher growled
- “You liar! You can feel it too! Stop pretending!!”Agee yelled and Orioncut him off
- "Just Asher?" Xander asked again but Orion ignored him
- "Does she know?" Xander asked
- "Turns out she knows" Alpha Orion muttered
- "If her wolf can smell her mate perfectly, she's not that weak then" Xander said and Orion looked at him
- "Are you seriously speaking against me on behalf of....."
- "Your mate, the future Luna of our pack" Xander cut in and Orion could feel Asher giggling happily on hearing that but that's not his problem
- Orion felt like he was being ganged up on. He didn't like it. He was the alpha, he was supposed to be respected and feared, not questioned. And yet, here was Xander, challenging him, speaking up for the omega. It was infuriating.
- "I am the alpha," Orion said, his voice low and dangerous. "And I will not be challenged, especially by a lowly beta like you. Remember your place, or you will regret it."
- "My place is beside you, as your beta," Xander said, unafraid. "And it is my duty to speak up when I believe
- "But I do not need you to speak up for the omega," Orion said. "She is weak and unworthy. I have made my decision, and it is final. I will not be swayed by your words or anyone else's. The omega is not my mate, and she never will be."
- Xander was silent, his eyes wide with disbelief.
- He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He couldn't believe that Alpha Orion was so adamant in his rejection of his mate. It didn't make any sense.
- "But...but how can you be so sure?" Xander finally managed to ask.
- "She's not going to be your Luna Knight" Alpha Orion said
- "You might change your mind later" Xander said and Orion growled at him
- "Sorry" Xander chuckled
- "Have you seen Ashley today?" Orion asked
- "Yeah, she said tomorrow would be the perfect day for the bonding" Xander replied and Oroin nodded
- **
- Adella’s Suite**
- "We are done my lady" The maids said at once and Adella looked up with a confused look on her face
- "Lady?" She asked
- The maids exchanged glances and said nothing
- Adella turned away from them and checked herself out in the mirror, when did she ever get to even see the way her face looks like??
- She almost gasped seeing herself
- The maids really did a great job,her long black hair was well brushed and oiled, she was wearing a dress which look so beautiful on her,she wouldn't deny that. Her face was taken care of and she was looking so different.
- "I'm...pretty" She mumbled slowly, tears almost dropped from her eyes
- The maids only watched in silence.
- The door opened again and two maids walked in,holding trays of food.
- "The old Luna ordered us to bring this, please eat" They said and dropped the food on the stool
- Adella was hesitant at first, but her stomach was growling and she was famished.
- Adella immediately walked closer and sat down on the bed,the food was shifted to her and they opened it.
- Fried Meat!!! Her favorite, how did the old Luna know that she was dying to eat this?!!
- “That smells appetizing” Marie moaned
- “I know right?” Adella smiled and she took one immediately but she couldn't control it,she started eating the food hungrily the way she was feeling so hungry.
- She realized that she was making a mess of herself, but she couldn't help it. She was so famished, and the food was so good. She had never tasted anything like it before. It was as if she had been starving for days, and this was the first meal she had had in weeks.
- After she finished eating, the maids packed the dishes and walked out of the suite,Adelaide came in next and Adella immediately got up
- "Old Luna...."
- "Mother" Adelaide corrected
- "I'm sorry" Adella muttered
- "I knew it" Adelaide smiled, staring at Adella
- "You're beautiful" She said and Adella managed to smile
- "Thank you....mother" She muttered
- "Don't worry about the alpha,he must have been shocked and surprised that the moon goddess would mate him with and omega, but trust me there's nothing wrong with you,you look so perfect" Adelaide said and Adella find herself smiling
- "You should sleep, you look like you didn't sleep a wink last night" She said
- “It's not just last night,I've not been sleeping well from the moment I was born” Adella said in her head and nodded at Adelaide
- "Thank you mother" She bowed
- "We will talk better tomorrow, okay?" She said and Adella nodded
- "Don't worry, the maids will give you anything you ask for" Adelaide touched her hair before going out of the suite
- Adella sighed and gently sat down on the bed
- She had so many thoughts running through her head, and she couldn't seem to quiet them. She was trying to process everything that had happened in the last few days.
- The moon goddess had mated her with the alpha of the pack, and she couldn't understand why. She didn't feel like she deserved this. She didn't feel worthy of being his mate. She felt like a fraud, like she was lying to him. She couldn't let him find out the truth. But she also couldn't help but feel like she was falling in love with him.
- She was so confused, and she didn't know what to do
- “I think she likes us” Marie said and Adella smiled
- “I can't believe it”She said
- “We have hope at least,I don't want us to go back to that meadow” Marie said and Adella sighed sadly
- “But..mother and Amazon...and everyone”She said
- “Let's think about them after we get a place here, okay?” Marie said and Adelaide nodded
- It was hard to think about the future when the past was so heavy on her heart. But she knew Marie was right. They had to focus on the present, on making a life for themselves in this new place. They had to put the past behind them, and move forward. But it was easier said than done.
- Adella lay down on the bed, her thoughts still racing. She tried to clear her mind, to focus on the present. But her thoughts kept circling back to the past, to the life she had left behind. And then, she remembered something. Something she had seen that day in the woods.
- She sighed out and thought of Orion again, she wondered what will happen next. Will he really reject her and chase her out?? Or will something change?
- There was no way to know for sure. But Adella couldn't help but hope that something would change, that the alpha would see her for who she really was and not reject her. She was scared to hope, but she couldn't help herself. Maybe it was foolish, but she couldn't help but dream of a future with him. A future where she was more than just an omega, more than just a servant. A future where she was his equal, his partner.
