Chapter 36 The Chase
- The tires screeched as the black SUVs roared down the narrow alley, their engine growls rattling her nerves. Amara’s pulse quickened in response, the weight of the flash drive pressing down on her as if the fate of the world rested in her pocket. She didn’t want to think about what was on it—what it meant. All she knew was that if Blackout got their hands on it, they wouldn’t just kill her; they’d erase everything and everyone she cared about.
- “Move!” Damian’s voice cut through her thoughts, sharp and commanding, his hand already gripping her arm as he pulled her towards the back exit of the building.
- She fought the urge to shove him off, hating how easily he could control her with just a touch. How easily he’d taken over her life since that first meeting. But she couldn’t afford distractions now. They had to escape.
