Chapter 5

  • Aiden finished his call and turned. 'What was that in there?. Has he lost his senses?. Yes, Clara Williams was his old frame, a betrayal, and a thief. But after Kat left him, she had been so helpful, she was there for him. She made him a better person but not his heart? she didn't tend to his heart. He was very much in love with Kat but then his flesh needed something refreshing. It had been long, he knew.
  • Strolling back into the room, he leaned by the door and watched this young woman he once detested so much, well on the account of Kat for making him weak.
  • At first, he thought she was playing games but then, she had been the greatest friend he ever had.
  • "We can't be doing this," He said. Clara didn't blink nor stir. She was..quiet.
  • She raised her brows, "What are you talking about?."
  • "You know what I'm talking about. We almost made a mistake, we should avoid repeating that in the future." His voice was cold. There weren't emotions in his eyes as he spoke.
  • "But we almost did it. Those times..did you..did you not feel something?." Her voice was husky. Her heart was pounding against her chest, and she found herself breathing heavily.
  • Aiden waited before speaking, "No…" He replied. Her breath ceased and her face fell into a sad expression. Fidgeting with her fingers, she nodded.
  • "Thank you for your honesty."
  • "I'm sorry, Cl…" He started but she cut him off. "I'm fine. As long as we could still be friends, I do not mind." Aiden nodded, then turned his back and walked out.

  • Kat woke up with a slight headache, she had been feeling unwell since yesterday, maybe because she mourned all night and couldn't have a better sleep.
  • Her eyes twitched when she saw Sandra in front of her, she rubbed her eyes with the tip of her fingers and looked up at Sandra.
  • "Good morning, Ms. Kat."
  • "Good morning, Sandra. Did I wake too late?." She asked.
  • "You had with the Greenlight Smith enterprise at 10 at the dot."
  • Kat looked up at the the wall clock, there was 11:38 am. "Oh my god!. Damn it!" She cussed.
  • "That's so unprofessional. Well, I would like to meet him now." Kat said, sprang out of the bed, and started walking towards the bathroom. A question crossed her mind and she turned to Sandra, who was trying to dial Aiden's number.
  • "This greenlight Smith enterprise, what is the name of its founder?." Kat asked Sandra, looking at him intently.
  • "Aiden Smith," Sandra replied, and she was stunned. She shut her eyes, no. She's not ready to face him, not yet.
  • "Cancel the meeting. We'll see the staff after I'm done." She instructed, Sandra was amused, this man is the most influential in Seattle. How could she refuse to see him? suddenly.
  • Sandra stepped out and called Aiden back. Aiden picked up at the second ring. He was cooking in the kitchen when his phone rang. He wrapped his hand on a towel and picked up his phone.
  • "I'm sorry, Mr. Smith. My boss is very busy and wouldn't attend to you." Aiden sighed.
  • "But we have to discuss the contract immediately," Aiden said.
  • Sandra rubbed her forehead tiredly, "I'm sorry."
  • There was a pause.
  • "Why don't we meet to discuss it then?." He suggested, there was silence.
  • Sandra looked at Kat who nodded to her. "Okay. She has my full support."
  • Aiden's lips curved up in a smile. "Thank you, thank you." Then the call ended.
  • Clara walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. She pulls out a can of milk and distributed them to a glass cup.
  • "Did she buy time again?."
  • "I think so." He replied to her, she snorted. "I knew it. I can't imagine almighty Aiden disrespected and he relented." Clara said to him.
  • "I'm not interested except for her signature." Aiden stated briefly and she chuckled, "I hope so."
  • As Kat stopped her car in front of her company, she stepped out and walked in, with a sunglass on her eyes and hair packed in a ponytail. She was putting on a dress with a black long jacket and combo boots.
  • When the meeting was finished, she drove home. Not the hotel but her home. Stopping in front of the wooden door, she knocked.
  • She waited until the door was opened, revealing Damon. At first, he didn't recognize her, it was when she took off her sunglasses that Damon gasped in surprise.
  • "Kathleen is this you?." He was excited. "Oh my god, you've looked great, please come in." Damon shifted aside and she walked in.
  • The house was the same, with little changes and all her memories came flooding out.
  • "So you've been here all this while." She said and Damon chuckled and followed her to the kitchen.
  • "It wasn't hard to leave. The house still meant a lot to me." Damon told her and she smiled. Looking over at the counter, her mind flashed back to a certain memory.
  • ***Flashback.
  • Her POV.
  • Aiden was standing at the threshold with a studious look on his face, my heart race began to quiet down and I breathed out. Does he want to give me a heart attack?. He smirked and I frowned.
  • "What the f**k are you doing in my apartment?." I almost yelled. I shut my eyes and prevented myself from doing something that I'd regret later.
  • "To see you." He simply replied calmly. I curled my fists so that my hand wouldn't start shaking.
  • "How long have you been there?." I asked him.
  • "Long enough to see you trash my gift." He answered brusquely, and right now, I was the one smirking. "Though I expected it'd happen that way." He added.
  • "Get out before I call the cops." I threatened. He scoffed, "You wouldn't dare." He said, raising his brows.
  • "Watch and see then," I said and searched my pockets for my phone. I remembered I left it inside my purse, I turned and walked into the sitting room. I took up my purse and opened it, immediately a hand snatched my purse away and I turned angrily.
  • ***
  • I raised my hands to push him away from me but ended up circling his neck with them. Aiden's lips made their way so sensuously to my mouth and there, it took total control. I'd kissed the fair share of my boyfriends, but none of them could amount anything close to this, it was possessive, passionate, romantic, and hell- he was by far the best kisser I'd ever kissed.
  • He spun us around up and made me sit at the armrest of the cushion. My heart racing a hundred miles per minute, and all the while not breaking the kiss. His hand curled up behind my waist as he finally pulled out, making us catch a breath.
  • My breathing ragged and I didn't know about his, but as he began to descend slowly again, I dived down to the couch and ran into the kitchen. I pulled a pen knife off the wooden block. Aiden walked in casually but stopped and looked at me, in amusement.
  • "Hand over the knife or you cut yourself." He outstretched his hand for the knife, I began to lay it in his palm but sliced it downward, I heard a sharp painful hiss from him as he grabbed his finger, avoiding his blood from dropping on the floor. His angered eyes looked at me with a growl and I swallowed hard.
  • "You have to leave," I said shakily. I was guilty, I didn't know I could cut his finger. It pained me that he was in pain.
  • "Alright. I'll leave but I'll come back. And when I do, we'll talk maturely." He said and I nodded.
  • ***The End of Flashback.
  • She smiled, then turned back to Damon.
  • "Girl, you look beautiful, why don't we go out and grab some tea?. How do we see that?." Damon suggested,
  • "We could catch up, you know," Kat told him and walked out of the kitchen.
