Chapter 8

• Richard McCarthy’s POV:
• “so why is sapphire staying with you?” gracie asked.
• “what would you do after finding out ? you sneaky, suspicious frog’s poop… its none of your business” my ‘mind’ shouted.
• I told her everything about sapph. Well I found it awkward her asking me about my personal life but, shrugged it away coz she’s my friend and she has every right to know about what was going on in my life.
• “are you forgetting something Richard? You and I work on privacy basis with anyone and my sweetheart is someone from that privacy booth of ours. She just invaded our privacy by asking about my sweetheart. This is ridiculous” my ‘mind’ said.
• ‘chill will you. She was just curious’ I said to my ‘mind’.
• After mine and gracie’s little talk I showed her a guest room and went straight into my room and removed the awful costume, changed and slept on my side of the bed and pulled sapph to me. She instantly snuggled into me. I smiled at this little gesture of hers and tried sleeping but, my ‘mind’ started talking.
• “little talk? Seriously? It’s 4:30 in the morning and in one and half hour you wake up anyway so why sleeping? Go and continue talking to that friend of yours” my ‘mind’ said sarcastically.
• ‘let me sleep ‘mind’’ I said that and I slept.
• I woke up to my alarm ringing for the 3rd time. It was 8:00. I shut it off and got up and noticed that sapph was not beside me. I went downstairs and saw that sapph was sitting in the dining room while gracie was preparing pancakes. I went to sapph and kissed her forehead.
• “good morning princess” I said and she smiled at me replying with a good morning.
• “good morning gracie” I said as I went into the kitchen.
• “good morning Richard. I’m preparing pancakes hopes sapph likes them” she said.
• “ofcourse, she does” I replied with a smile. They are going to be great friends I said to myself.
• “great friends? My imaginary foot” my ‘mind’ said.
• ‘ well, good morning to you too ‘mind’’ I said to my ‘mind’.
• I helped gracie prepare strawberry syrup and set the table. We all started eating silently until sapph spoke.
• “Richie rich, you said that we can buy candies today on the way to your office do you remember?” she asked me. Like I could deny her.
• “yea ofcourse princess” I said.
• “Richard if you don’t mind I would like to talk sapphire for shopping” gracie asked.
• “well that’s great. What do you say princess?” I questioned sapph.
• “are you going to come with us?” sapph asked.
• “well… I have very important meeting today princess I can’t come you guys go have fun” I said and sapph just nodded smiling.
• “this is a bad idea Richard. I was serious when I said that you should keep her with you 24*7, 365 and 366 on leap year basis” my ‘mind’ said.
• ‘listen ‘mind’ they both are girls they can have a girl time together so you dare not interfere in this matter’ I said to my ‘mind’.
• I dropped them at a mall and reached my work place. I don’t know who will take care of sapph when I go on a business meeting to Australia next week.
• “you will and can take care of her in Australia silly” my ‘mind’ said.
• ‘no ‘mind’ I’ll be very busy and cant spend time with her taking care of her’ I said to my ‘mind’
• I started missing sapphire all of a sudden. Huff what am I? a love sick puppy? I don’t know what am I going to do once she becomes normal. I must accept that I became attached to her but, what if she want’s to leave me….
• “Became attached??? Dude you’ve kissed her many times already and you call that just attachment? She’s not some kid you’ve adopted. You love her get that into your system” my ‘mind’ said.
• ‘love is a big word ‘mind’’ I said to my ‘mind’. It was 7:30 pm by the time I finished my work. I went back to my home only to find sapph sleeping in our bed.
• “this is odd she doesn’t sleep so early” my ‘mind’ said.
• ‘she must be tired’ I replied to my ‘mind’.
• Gracie and I talked about how our day went as we were having our dinner.
• “sapphire is such a great girl. We had fun” gracie told me.
• “I’m glad youll did. Thank you so much gracie for taking care of her” I said with gratitude evident in my voice.
• “don’t mention it she’s like my little sister Richard. So… what are your plans for this weekend? ” gracie said.
• “well this Saturday I have to fly to australia for a business meeting. Will be back after a week or so” I said.
• “well who’s taking care of sapphire then?” she questioned.
• “don’t know should see. I’ll ask Alvin to look after sapph” I answered.
• “no… I’m free I’ll look after her if you don’t mind” she asked
• “thank you. But you should go and have fun. I don’t want you to baby sit sapph for a whole week and you also have work what would you do about it?” I questioned her.
• “well its just few interviews. I have no problem taking her there with me” she said. Well… it sounded like a great idea.
• “okay if you insist” I said.
• “ I don’t think this is a good idea Richard” my ‘mind’ said.
• ‘you heard her right sapph’s like a sister to her she’ll take care of her don’t worry’ I replied to my ‘mind’.
• Sapphire’s POV:
• Today is Saturday and richie rich left to Australia. Grace is a good person. She made me all my favorite dishes for lunch and always gives me candies.
• “so sapphire, do you want to play a game?” grace asked.
• “yes” I nodded happily.
• “this game is called as ask anything, where, you can anything about me and I have to answer and viceversa” grace said.
• “okay” I said.
• “ okay so I’ll ask the first question. What’s your favorite color” grace asked.
• “sea green” I answered.
• “now you ask” she said.
• “what is your favorite cartoon?” I asked her.
• “power puff girls” she answered. Yea I also love that show.We started asking questions and one question she asked had no answer from me.
• “whom do you like the most?” she asked.
• “I don’t know” I answered. I wanted to say Richard’s name but hesitated on saying. Richard Is a good man who buys me candies and clothes and everything I want but, I can’t say take his name because he didn’t consider me as his friend.
• “whom do you like the most?” I asked her.
• “richard” she answered. Yea she’s his friend so she can like him.
• “I love Richard. He’s such a sweetheart. I don’t know if he likes me or not sapphire you have to help me and Richard love each other okay?” she said.
• “ What should I do to help you both?” I asked her.
• “just do whatever I ask you to do” she said and I nodded liking a candy.
• Richard is her friend. He likes her. Not like me, I’m not his friend. I just stay with him and ask him to buy me everything I want. I want Richard to be my friend and like me. Now, I understood that you can kiss even if you are not friends coz Richie rich kisses me. I suddenly wanted to see Richard and sleep on his arm in our bed.
• One week later……..
• It’s been seven days since I’ve seen Richard. This whole week went on by studying on how to make Richie rich like grace more.
• “today he’s coming back sapphire and you know what you have to do right?” grace asked and I nodded. Well grace gave a few lessons on how to make Richard like her more.
• I was sitting on the couch in the living room when the main door flew open and there stood Richie rich. I also want to be his friend and like him.
• “hello princess” saying that he started coming towards me. I just stood there because grace asked me not to go near him or touch him. He was about to reach me, grace came hugged Richie rich. She signaled me to go to my new room. Yes she said that I was a big girl and big girls have to sleep in their own bedrooms. My room was in the first floor so I quickly went into my room.I sat on my bed and started thinking how it would be to be his friend and suddenly my bedroom door went open.
• “what happened princess? didn’t miss me?” he asked taking me into his arms and I just nodded.
• “then why didn’t you hug me?” he questioned for which I shrugged.
• “what’s wrong princess? why are you not talking? Are you mad at me?”he questioned and I shooked my head saying no and smiled.
• He started kissing me on my lips and after a few seconds he released when we were out of breathe. I pushed him away from me remembering what grace said. I wiped my mouth. I wanted to ask him to be my friend but knew that he was already friends with grace and didn’t want me as his friend.
