Chapter 29 Conflicting Emotions
- Fueled by urgency, Xavier retaliated, returning fire with fierce determination. He shot a quick glance at Alfonso and Lorenzo, who flanked him, urging them to cover his back as he sprinted after Igor. Time was of the essence, and there was no opportunity to wait for the elevator.
- Choosing speed over caution, Xavier dashed up the staircase, each step echoing his mounting desperation. Suddenly, a bullet whistled past his ear, prompting him to press himself against the wall for cover. He barely had a moment to catch his breath when he saw one of the masked assailants peeking out from his hiding spot, only to be met with a swift and merciless response from him—a bullet to the forehead that sent him crumpling to the ground.
- After a relentless exchange of gunfire with a few more men in black, Xavier finally made it to the roof, adrenaline pounding in his veins. But the door was locked tight from behind. Without hesitation, he unleashed a series of shots at the lock, the echoes ringing sharply in the night air, before kicking the door open with a forceful shove.
