Chapter 38

Maybe they went out for a walk or something. He thought to himself. He opened the door and went outside. All of a sudden, he started to hear some voices faintly, like they were at a far distance. Alex traced the sounds to the garden and there he met Ava and Liam running around and playing with flowers. He smiled at the sight with his hands shoved in his pockets. Ava got hold of Liam and put a flower in his hair before she tickled him. Their laughter filled the air and as Alex stared at them, he started to long for something he knew he may never have. The thought of having kids with Ava and playing around like that made his heart throbbed but either way, he knew it wouldn't happen. He shook away the thoughts and decided it was time they knew they weren't alone. He made his presence known by coughing discreetly and they whirled around, surprise written on their faces.
" Uncle Alex! " Liam screamed and ran towards him while Ava stood there, rooted to the spot without moving an inch.
Liam ran into Alex's arms and hugged him " Hey big guy, how are you? " He asked, laughing as he tossed Liam up in the air.
