• Jesse opened the map on the table and smoothed the many creases from it being in his pack most of the time. He needed a route back that would allow for stops if Thera—or Minn decided they needed to go for a run.
• He had no idea what to expect from Leah on this trip but was figuring if he could find low traffic, off the beaten path route, she would be more at ease.
• Leah came in carrying a crate. “This is the last of it.” She set it on the floor with the rest.
