  • Leah tossed his boots in the van and closed the door. The look on her face told him she could smell the blood before she noticed him holding the shirt against his side. “Get in.” He told her as he rounded the front and opened his door.
  • As he started the van, she pushed the console between the seats out of the way and placed her hands over the shirt. “Is it bad?” Her voice was shaking.
  • “We’ll look at it once we get out of here.” He put the van in gear and stomped on the gas. His side was burning and throbbing, as he steered out of the hidden spot they’d found.
