Chapter 6
- Ariana
- My hands trembled as I received the divorce papers from the elder. My heart was pounding heavily as I returned to the hospital.
- “I just spoke to the doctor and good news, we can return back to the pack today.” Dad announced as he wrapped his hand around me and I smiled happily, my eyes brewing with tears.
- “Don’t cry… We should be celebrating, be thankful to the goddess that nothing happened… it’s amazing how she helped us and I’m grateful you’re married to the alpha… Only the goddess knows who would’ve helped us.” He whispered, his voice cracking and I hugged him tightly.
- “Evening is going to be fine, dad… being married to the alpha isn’t the only reason why mom is okay, it’s because the goddess still needs her alive… Nothing is ever going to happen to mom, she’ll be fine. I’ll go pack our bags, we’re going back home.” I muttered and he glanced at me for a moment.
- “We? Your home is here, Riana.” He whispered and I smiled faintly.
- “Not anymore dad… This is no longer my home.” I muttered and mom chose that moment to wake up, averting our attention as she gasped.
- “What… What happened? Did the alpha do anything? Is he angry at you?”
- “No, I’m sorry I’m announcing it this way but I’m divorcing Alexander, I can’t continue with this marriage.” I declared and they stared at me with shock.
- “What’s wrong honey? Marriage is too delicate, you don’t need to end your marriage over a small issue, you’ve loved the alpha for years, why? Tell us what's wrong, Riana.” Mom whispered as she grabbed my hands and I inhaled deeply, trying very hard not to break into tears.
- I’ve loved him for years… I’ve done everything within my power to make sure he sees the kind of love I have for him but year in and year out, it’s still the same cold husband I get.
- Now it dawned on me that the only reason he agreed to the marriage was because Kristen left, I was never in the picture, I was just a substitute and it’s best I leave now.
- I inhaled again. “Everything is fine mom… it’s nothing, the marriage can’t work anymore.” I replied and she shook her head.
- “You can’t make this decision now when our family is unstable, we’re sorry we failed you as parents but the pack is going to suffer… The pressure will be unbearable for you. Society is going to mock you… Please don’t give up now, please tell us what happened, I’m sure the alpha is going to apologize and make things right.” Dad pleaded and I shook my head.
- “I’m going to divorce him and our pack will be liberated, we won't be under him anymore. We’re going to grow on our own without the help of anyone.” I replied with determination and dad massaged my shoulder softly.
- “I know that’s what you want and I wish I can help you achieve this but the moment we get separated from Aloha Alexander, our pack is going to receive several attacks… We wouldn’t be able to survive it… Please, think about yourself… there’s no male in our extended family who is capable of taking over the pack.” He explained and I scoffed.
- “Why must a man rule the pack? Are ladies considered too weak to rule? I’m going to rule the pack, without getting married to any alpha and I’ll make sure our pack thrives the same way every other pack is supposed to be, all I need is your support.” I replied and they exchanged glances, breathing heavily.
- “Fine, if that's what you want, we’re going to support you… We’ll always support you in everything you do, Riana.” Dad whispered and I smiled softly.
- “Thank you so much, Dad… Thank you.” I muttered repeatedly.
- “Pack up, I’ll ask the driver to come pick you up. I need to drop the papers.” I replied and they nodded.
- “Think about this very well and whatever your decision is, we’ll always support you.” Mom whispered and I smiled as I walked out.
- My smile was just a faze, goddess knew I was dying on the inside. My heart was writhing and bleeding profusely and Rose, she was quiet, too quiet, too weak to do a thing.
- The bond inside me felt different, it was repulsive and hurting me deeply.
- Arriving at the house, I paused for a minute as I looked around the house, the place I had called a home for the past three years.
- Stepping inside, the scent of the house hit my nostrils, it had slowly been infiltrated with Kristen’s scent that it felt completely normal now.
- “Is that the divorce paper?” Kristen asked with a smirk and I pressed my lips together for a minute.
- “Where’s Alexander?”
- “I don’t know, you’re his wife, you should know.” She taunted and the words sliced through my heart but I said nothing.
- “Give this to him and make sure he signs it.” I whispered and she chuckled.
- “That’s one thing I’d make sure I do even if it means laying my life on the line. You should leave and never return, good riddance to you.” She pulled out the divorce papers, staring at it with a gleam in her eyes.
- “Consider yourself lucky for not wanting anything, you know you deserve nothing, that’s why you asked for nothing.” She muttered and I said nothing.
- The maids brought out my boxes, having a gloomy expression and I smiled at them.
