Chapter 8 Jealous

  • ELLA'S POV
  • Asher and Julia carefully assist princess Hellen as she slips into the luxurious red ball gown that had arrived moments ago, a gift from the Alpha kings. The fabric is so exquisite that I am not allowed to touch it. King Aleric had promised to take her on a tour of the grand main palace, as a gesture of gratitude for her healing abilities.
  • "They said I can ask for anything I want after I heal them," Princess Hellen proudly bosts, unable to contain her elation. "They are so taken with me that they even asked me to stay even after I lift the curse."
  • Asher and Julia gasp in astonishment before showering her with praise. The room fills with excitement as they all begin suggesting various things she can ask for from the kings.
  • "You should ask them to marry you. You never know when their true mate will come along," Asher suggests, causing my heart to quicken with unease. Hasn't princess Hellen only healed them twice? Isn't it a bit early to be pondering asking for a marriage?
  • Princess Hellen considers the idea, her eyes sparkling, but she hesitates, "I would really like that, but it's still a little too early." Surprisingly, my heart eases, as if relieved by her response.
  • "Then, you should ask for a grand banquet in your honor, my lady." Julia suggests with excitement and Princess Hellen's face lights up once again at the suggestion.
  • "Yes, during the first day of full moon," she exclaims joyfully. Julia and Asher move in for a congratulatory hug, but the princess holds her hand up. "Careful, I don't want to ruin my dress before the kings even get a chance to see me in it."
  • Just then, a sudden knock on the door startles us, and a servant peeks in. "Your Highness, King Aleric is awaiting you," she announces with a slight bow.
  • "Pass me the mirror, human," Princess Hellen snaps at me and I quickly retrieve the mirror and position it in front of her so she can admire herself for the a hudreth time. We all have to swear that she looks like a goddess, before she instructs Asher and Julia to hold the tail of her dress so they can leave.
  • Off course I am not allowed to accompany them, not that I desire to anyway. Witnessing the kings fawn over her is not something I yearn to see. Instead, I play soothing melodies on my harp to occupy my thoughts once they are gone.
  • I also hang her beautiful dresses and carefully store away the golden jewelry gifts she had received and clean her quarters. As I am almost done, a loud knock resonates through the room. Could they have returned so soon? But then Princess Hellen wouldn't be knocking on her own quarters.
  • Setting aside the rug I was using to clean, I make my way to the main entrance. A servant stands on the other side, holding a sealed letter in her hand.
  • "Where is your mistress?" she inquires. I explain the princess's absence, and she hands me the letter, emphasizing that it is from Hellen's father and I should make sure my mistress gets it. I nod in understanding as she departs.
  • Seems I'll have to go looking for princess Hellen after all. The letter might contain something important and off course I'm not allowed to open her letters to check wether its important or not.
  • I change into a less wrinkled dress and carefully carry the letter as I make my way towards the main palace. Along the corridors, I meet a friendly maid who provides me with directions to where I can find Princess Hellen.
  • I follow the servant's directions into new parts of the main palace that I have not seen before. The place is so big that it feels like it goes on forever. As I walk through the inner hallways, everything starts to look different.
  • The whole place is decorated with either gold, silver, or other valuable metals, making it look really fancy and beautiful. It must be the alpha kings personal residence.
  • I pass by many empty rooms until I hear Princess Hellen's loud laughter and cheering coming from one massive room. As I approach, I realize it's a royal ballroom. Soft harp music fills the air, accompanied by the sound of loud jubilant cheers.
  • I slowly open the door and enter. A large crowd of servants has gathered around, watching and cheering at the center of the ballroom. I walk closer and peer over their heads, and that's when I notice what they are all cheering for. King Aleric is dancing with Princess Hellen at the center. Princess Hellen throws her head back and giggles excitedly, her hands resting on his neck and chest.
  • The feeling that washes over me is indescribable. It's as if my heart is being torn apart, shredded into pieces by the sight of them together. The pain is overwhelming.
  • I want to look away, to walk away, but I can't. My eyes are fixed on them, and no matter how much I try to turn away, its like they are fixed there. To the loving scene playing before me. I continue to watch as he tenderly holds her beautiful face in his hands, drawing her closer with his other hand on her wrist. He lowers his head, and their lips meet. The whole crowd of servants erupts into cheers.
  • Unable to bear it any longer, I back away and rush back out the way I had come.
  • What is wrong with me? None of the alpha kings are mine, but I always feel like they should belong to me. It hurts every time to see any of them with my mistress. It's a pain that's impossible to explain.
  • ************
  • "I still can't believe he kissed you," Asher exclaims as she carefully helps unzip Princess Hellen's dress.
  • "What was it like, your highness? How does he smell?" Julia chimes in excitedly.
  • Princess Hellen lets out a soft giggle as she gracefully lowers her naked body into the bath that I had prepared for her. "His scent is truly alluring, rich and unique," she replies with a radiant smile. "And his lips... they're as soft as velvet..." I immediately exit the room to retrieve the letter I was to give her, eager to escape her joyous revelations.
  • "I just want to know how well he does it," Julia persists, shrugging her shoulders as I re-enter the room, holding the letter in my hand.
  • "What's that, human?" Princess Hellen immediately snaps, her piercing gaze locking onto me and the others too turn to look at me.
  • "It's a letter from your father, your highness," I announce and carry the letter to where she is reclined in the warm tub. "It arrived earlier today."
  • "Earlier? And you didn't inform me immediately?" Her tone is sharp as she tears open the seal. As she read the contents, her mood shifts in an instant.
