Chapter 5 The King Of All Alpha Kings
- ELLA'S POV
- Asher and Julia exchange hushed whispers with Princess Hellen as we hurriedly make our way back to her chambers. I follow closely behind, trying to keep up with their quick pace. Every now and then, they glance back at me, their expressions unimpressed.
- Aren't they happy that their Mistress have successfully lifted the curse of the Alpha Kings and can ask for anything she wants.
- As we enter the room, I barely get a chance to take a seat before thin fingers suddenly snake around my exposed throat. Gasping for air, I struggle to pry Princess Hellen's strong grip off me.
- "You thought you could steal my spells and use the to impress the kings in my presence?" Her voice drips with venom as she tightens her hold on my throat. Her wolf claws emerge and panic consumes me as I desperately attempt to free myself from her grasp.
- "She can't talk when she's dead, my lady," Julia says and Princess Hellen's grip finally loosens and I collapse to the floor, coughing and gasping for air.
- "You are nothing more than a foolish weak human in their eyes, no matter what you have done. And you will never be anything more." Princess Hellen snaps.
- I thought she just told the kings that it's her spell that has finally worked.
- Struggling to catch my breath, I push myself up from the floor, my eyes wide with fear and confusion. "I didn't use any spells from your book," I manage to gasp out, my voice strained and desperate. "I don't even know how to cast a spell."
- Princess Hellen's angry eyes bear into mine with a cold, calculating gaze. "Do you truly expect me to believe that." she sneers, her voice laced with skepticism. "You, a mere stupid human, somehow managed to lift the curse that has plagued the Alpha Kings for centuries without the use of my magic? How convenient."
- I struggle to form a response but Asher speaks first. "Regardless of how she managed it, the fact remains that the Alpha Kings recognized you and will be only awarding you, my lady."
- HELLEN'S POV
- I have always been certain that I possess the same sorceress powers as my late mother, making me the most powerful sorceress in the land. When I received news that the wealthiest and most powerful alpha Kings sought to have their curse lifted and were willing to grant me anything in return, I was exhilarated. But the insignificant human nearly jeopardized everything for me. If I hadn't acted quickly and convinced the kings that it was my earlier spell that lifted the curse, they would have praised the human instead of me. I still can't comprehend how the weak thing managed to achieve such, but I suspect she must have stolen one of my spells from my spell book after I foolishly shared it with her.
- All I want is for her to confess which of my spells she used. She only managed to heal one of the alpha kings, but the other two will undoubtedly demand their curses to be lifted as well.
- "I was never soughting recognition or reward from the alpha kings. I don't have an idea how it even happened, my fingers just touched his and it happened. Please, believe me." the human pleads and my expression shifts from anger to shock instantly as a dreadful realization dawns on me.
- "Impossible," I mutter. "Where do you come from? Who is your father, and what is his name?" I demand, my voice filled with urgency.
- "I... I don't know, your highness," the human stammers, her confusion evident. "My father abandoned us when I was very young, and my deceased mother never spoke of him."
- "What about your mother? Where did she come from? What was her name?" I press, desperate for answers.
- "She too died when I was...."
- Exasperated, I let out a sigh of anger. "Get out of here," I snap, and she quickly rushes out of my chamber.
- "What is it, my lady?" Asher asks after the human's steps fade.
- "She... she is the heir to the crown of the king of Alpha kings," I inform, my voice filled with fury.
- My other two maids' eyes widen in shock, their mouths agape. "Impossible. She's just a mere human? And all the inhabitants of the rogue village were slaughtered by the kings, including the last heir," Asher whispers, and I shake my head.
- I remember once my sorcerless mother told me that to break a revengeful curse, one must have the blood of the one who cast it. She said the blood serves as a symbol of reconciliation between the parties involved. A descendant of the person that was harmed also has the ability to lift curse by a mere touch.
- "She must be of the bloodline of the peasant rogue chosen to become the king of alpha kings. The one that unearthed the crown before the alpha kings raided the village. She must have somehow survived the slaughter," I spit. "That's why she's able to heal the Alpha kings."
- "If she is indeed of that bloodline, you could hand her over to the Alpha kings. Just imagine what they would grant you for giving them the last descendant of that rogue peasant. They would never tolerate someone like her having such power over them," Julia suggests, her voice tinged with excitement.
- Asher shakes her head in disagreement. "What if they regret their actions and want their curse lifted once they hear who she truly is?"
- Asher is right. It is impossible to predict how the Alpha kings will react upon learning that a servant holds the key to their salvation. Not to mention that they are so desperate to have the curse lifted.
- "Guess then we have no option but to bow down to the pathetic human if we want her to help you win over the kings, my lady" Julia says, sounding rueful.
- "No, I'll find a way to turn this to my advantage," I vow. "She may have the blood of the peasant line, but she doesn't know that yet."
- Concerned, Asher points out. "What about the other two kings? How will she heal them without them knowing it's not you who's doing it?"
- "I have a plan." I say.
