• "My lady, you're back," Nana said in surprise, but before she could react, Cecile's hand struck her cheek with a stinging slap.
• "Shut your mouth," Cecile thundered, her voice edged with fury. She stormed over to the mirror, aggressively wiping off the makeup from her face.
• "Roxanne, do you really think I'll let you snatch him away from me?" Cecile muttered to herself, her hands trembling with a mix of rage and desperation.
