Chapter 3
- In the woods
- 07:45 pm
- "Arggg" Alpha Blake screamed with all his might and forcefully his wolf took over, totally enveloping his senses and humanity. It growled loudly and excitedly, running as fast as it could to find a prey.
- Meanwhile seated outside Alpha Blake's chamber was Axel,he kept tapping his feet impatiently and at the same time staring at the wall clock, wondering why his Alpha was taking too long to leave his study.
- "There you are" Dominique gushed rushing towards Axel the moment she sighted him.
- "Minnie" he whispered trying to hide how excited he was to see her after a very long time. "Since when did you show up?"
- "I arrived few hours ago, after our last conversation,I couldn't help but get worried" she said staring at everywhere else but Axel's face "but I'm glad he's fine now"
- "where are you headed to?" she asked again.
- "to check on Blake, we have plans for the night" He smiled "it's been a while since we last went to Willow Creek"
- Dominique finally stared at him, and before she could stop herself, she chuckled loudly "that's certainly not happening today"
- "why's that?" Axel asked slightly furrowing his brows, slightly panicking because of how mischievous Dominique can be when she wants to.
- "Oh he's gone out, into the woods. I advised that he let's his wolf out a little" she explained "once in a full moon a not enough time for the Alpha's wolf"
- Axel's eyes dilated in shock "No.. Minnie... why would you do that? you know the curse and its Implications, yet you still let him release it?" He scolded obviously panicking "and go out alone?"
- "The curse isn't broken yet?" she gasped suddenly knowing the implications of her actions. "but his wolves were begging to be freed"
- "This is not good" Axel mumbled shutting his eyes tightly.
- "How do we prevent doom from befalling the Pack?" she asked thoughtfully.
- "I can still smell him, meaning that he's still trying to fight the urge to go against the primary rule" He replied and Dominique exhaled in relief "let's try getting him back here. I'm sure he's fighting it already so trying to get him back shouldn't be a big deal and he loves you" he added and duo shifted to their wolf forms, Axel turned into Ash, while Dominique into brown they shook their paws and superspeed away tracing Alpha Blake's scent.
- THE FOLLOWING DAY
- NEW YORK, U.S
- 09:00 am
- Lyra was seated on her bed surfing the net when her phone rang, the caller ID revealing the housing agent she contacted earlier in the day, Anxiously she answered the call.
- "you found one already?" she asked shockingly wondering how possible it was to find an apartment within that very short period, and not sure if it'd beat her expectations.
- "Thank you" she mumbled dropping the call and in excitement she jumped off her bed, heading to the closet.
- Lyra began to dance, her long hair bouncing in the process her eyes shone with freedom itself, no longer mere desires to be free.
- With a sudden sense of purpose, Lyra began to pack, she yanked open drawers throwing clothes on the floor, scattering shoes and bags, she dragged all the stuff she'd be needing to her bedroom, and in the process, she sighted her pink journal, together with her favourite pillow and stuffed them into a bag, having no intent of leaving them behind.
- A soft knock sounded on the door and knowing obviously who it was, Lyra mumbled a "come in" as she picked up her guitar.
- "What's going on here?" Aurora asked looking around her room.
- "I'm moving out" Lyra replied still trying to arrange her stuff.
- "Lyra sweetie, can we talk?" Her mum asked and moved a pile of cloth from a side of the bed, before sitting down. "where will you go?.. why are you even leaving?" She said with concern laced around her eyes.
- "I already have it figured out mum, I can no longer stay here, I've had enough! not with everything going on here, and Asher, I just need a break" Lyra shrugged, her jaws set Mrs. Jackson's face crumpled.
- "Everything going on here?, I really don't understand you" Aurora mumbled trying to arrange the scattered puzzle "I hope this has nothing to do with your marriage to Asher?"
- Lyra scoffed ignoring the question as she kept folding her stuff and stuffing them in a bag.
- Aurora sighed out knowing there was nothing she'd say would get Lyra to change her mind about leaving.
- "Fine! if you're so determined to leave, you can go" Aurora said with her voice slightly above a whisper.
- Lyra's heart ached but she steeled herself against her mother's words, knowing that unless she leaves, the marriage with Asher must go on, with or without her consent.
- Aurora's gaze lingered on Lyra "You should have asked why I want you married to Asher"
- "For future collaborations of course" Lyra scoffed "Isn't that what you only care about? your company's safety, your company's benefit and all... look mum, I really don't care"
- "don't say that" Aurora said her voice already sounding broken "it's for your own safety"
- "Then I'd rather be in danger" Lyra replied suddenly growing bored of the conversation "I'm still trying to arrange my stuff"
- Aurora sighed and got up from the bed, as she left the room, she couldn't stop looking back at Lyra who kept packing as though nothing else mattered to her.
- Creek
- 06:25 am
- "For how long will all of these go on?" Dominique asked no one in particular as she stared from Blake to Axel.
- "The shaman will be here soon, save your questions for her" Axel mumbled while Blake sat there calmly remembering in details what transpired the previous night, how he hurt himself because he couldn't bring himself to feast on human flesh.
- Axel heard sounds outside the chamber and walked out, then walked back in with an old lady, clad in a purple robe. She's shaman Phil, the only shaman in the pack who is also an Omega; the weakest of werewolves.
- Axel gestured at Dominique and reluctantly, she walked to him, and they both walked out, leaving just Alpha Blake and the shaman in his chamber.
- "Axel already briefed you am I correct?" Alpha Blake asked coldly and the Shaman nodded.
- "Alpha, beyond what Axel told me, I sense your struggle, the pains you've been through, and the curse. Your wolf is strong, but your heart is stronger and bitter, if ever you want to feel better, you must find balance" she said with her voice like a soothing balm yet throwing Blake in a state of confusion.
- "How?" he asked his voice barely above a whisper as he tried to conceal his emotions.
- The shaman's eyes seemed to see through him, and he felt it as she spoke.
- "you must find your mate, Blake the one who will anchor your soul and tame your beast" she said staring deeply into his eyes.
- "find your mate,or risk losing yourself forever, the clock is ticking and the moon is rising”
