Chapter 50 The Future

• Bright and early the next morning, we all gather for breakfast. The air is crisp and fresh, the sun just beginning to peek over the horizon. There's an energy in the air that feels both new and comforting, like the start of something big. Timmon and Tara are preparing for their trip, getting ready to head to the airport for their next adventure. Meanwhile, Uncle Carlton, Aunt Alice, and I are packing up the SUV for the journey back to my pack. As much as I love being surrounded by family, there’s a sense of urgency in the air. I can feel the weight of my responsibility pressing against me, reminding me of the journey that lies ahead.
• For now, I’m traveling light, with just the clothes I’ve packed. Everything else, my parents will send along later. I’ve had to leave a lot behind—mementos, clothing, little things that remind me of the life I had with Kosta. It's strange how you think you need all those things until you start over. The bare essentials become enough when you're building something new. And this journey back to my pack is just that; starting fresh, beginning again. I know that this move is for the best, even if it’s difficult.
• One of the blessings in all of this is that I already live part-time at the Mooncrest Dynasty pack. Even when I was still Luna, standing beside Kosta, I spent a week every month there, and three weeks during the off-season. I had my own space there, my own responsibilities. I had a role, a purpose beyond being Kosta’s mate. It’s sad, though, looking back now. Kosta never cared, never took the time to learn about my trips home. He knew that all royals trained one week every month, and that the elite trained for three weeks, but he never realized that after we mated, I had been crowned Alpha. I had my own pack to run, my own duties to uphold. My time away wasn’t about leisure; it was about leadership. It was about my destiny, about preparing myself to take my place in the world. But Kosta, he was too wrapped up in his own world to see that.
