Chapter 8 The First Daughter & The Kidnapper

• Diana locked the door of her room as soon as she finished her meal. She was so upset that she wanted to scream but she couldn't possibly scream here. So she buried her face in her pillow and screamed silently.
• Diana was so upset that Alpha Darren was starting to overreach into her work. Diana wasn't just working for herself, she was working for something bigger, her brother.
• She has a younger brother, who is now lying in the hospital in a coma. Diana needs a lot of money to pay for her brother's treatment. Therefore, she works hard to raise a lot of money so that she can independently use her money and does not need to depend on her mother anymore. That way, Diana will be able to divorce Alpha Darren soon because the biggest reason Diana wants to marry Alpha Darren is that her mother will cut off her brother's treatment if Diana refuses.
• Diana was forced into this contract marriage because of her brother, she even put her own feelings aside. She didn't think about herself, how broken her heart was when she had to get into a contract marriage with someone she thought hated her and someone who hid her from the world.
• So Diana was extremely pissed off when Alpha Darren told her to stop working because it would inhibit her goals. Moreover, after her first goal was achieved, Diana also had another goal, which was to collect the penalty money if the contract was canceled by her. That way she thought she would be free forever from Alpha Darren. Because Diana also doesn't want to live with someone who doesn't love her.
• Diana sighed and looked up at the ceiling. In this house she was indeed treated like a princess, but she felt very empty. She felt that Alpha Darren was deliberately giving her this emptiness to punish her for taking her sister's place.
• All Diana knew was that Alpha Darren wanted Annabelle, her half-sister, as his bride. But because Annabelle ran away, Alpha Darren finally had to marry Diana, inevitably for the benefit of two families.
• Diana always asked herself every night when she felt lonely, about how a happy future would come her way. She keeps asking when she can get genuine love from the person who loves her, because until now there has been no one who makes Diana feel sincerely loved except her brother, and unfortunately her brother is in a coma.
• Diana's phone vibrates, someone very important is calling her. The person who was the reason why Diana had to do this contract marriage in the first place was none other than Annabelle.
• Diana's eyes bulged when she read her half-sister's name on her phone. After a year of disappearing as if she was swallowed by the earth, she finally contacted Diana again.
• Diana quickly picked up the call.
• [It's me.]
• Yes, Diana already knew, she didn't need to get acquainted again with someone who made her go through this kind of suffering.
• [I thought you wouldn't pick up my call.] Annabelle giggled from the other side.
• That made Diana so mad because how could Annabelle joke around after she disappeared for a year!
• Diana was about to turn off the phone, but Annabelle's next words made her freeze in place.
• [How you doing, Diana? I'll be back to Pack Kyne as soon as possible. I hope we can meet to say hello to each other."]
• Suddenly Diana's body trembled. She pushed the phone away from her ear and tried to inhale as much oxygen as possible because she was currently terrified.
• Diana was afraid that Annabelle's arrival would ruin everything because she had not yet achieved the goal she wanted. If Annabelle came back, Diana wondered if her position would be replaced by Annabelle and she had no other reason to make her mother keep paying for her brother because there wasn't anything to exchange.
• Diana wrung her hair in frustration. She screamed inwardly: Why must it be now when everything was still a mess!
• No, Diana didn't want to not let go of Alpha Darren, but she still needed him, so she had to stay by his side for a while longer until she had enough money in her savings.
• Diana quickly typed a message to send to Annabelle, she was not willing to talk to Annabelle directly.
• *”You're asking how I'm doing? Do you think I'm doing well after a year in your place? No. When you are back to Pack Kyne, don't come to see me.*
• After sending the message Diana turned off her phone and threw the thing away. Her head felt like it was going to burst from thinking about so many heavy things at once.
• Then suddenly she stood up and bit her finger, a habit when nervous and scared. “Does Alpha Darren know if she'll be back yet?”
• Honestly, Diana also wanted to know how Alpha Darren would react if he knew Annabelle would return to Pack Kyne. But Diana was also worried that if she told Alpha Darren, she would be expelled immediately.
• Diana ruffled her hair badly. She went to the bathroom to wash her face, soothing her boiling head.
• She looked closely at the mirror in front of her and smiled sadly.
• “Look at you, you're just a shadow of your stepsister. You're like a shadow trapped inside that mirror. You can't do anything, you have no right to decide anything for yourself. You can only follow the words and movements of the person you replaced.”
• Diana's life is indeed like her reflection in the mirror. She was trapped in a world she didn't want to be in, but she couldn't get out of it either because she was already in too deep. All she could do was wait, until the owner of the original reflection came and kicked her out. That way she could get out of this world she didn't want to be in.
• Suddenly Diana's other phone, which she only used to call people at the hospital where her brother was being treated, rang. Since she thought it was a call from the hospital, she picked it up immediately.
• But after putting the phone to her ear and hearing the voice of the caller, Diana suddenly limped.
• [Hello Diana, how are you? You still remember my voice, right? You must not forget the voice of the man who put a knife to your neck.]
