• Tess tried not to think of how pissed Brody was going to be that she’d tricked him into agreeing to let her near the containers. If Gray’s little contraption worked and jammed up what was inside the container, it would be worth it. Of course the only ones that knew about it were her and Grayson—that wasn’t going to sit well with the others either. She slid along slowly on her belly on top of the cool steel container, trying to keep her body low enough to not be seen.
• Lifting her head, she spotted the truck coming up fast. All she had to do was somehow get from this trailer to the truck Joslee was driving like a madman. No biggie, how hard could jumping from one moving vehicle to another be? Swallowing she shuffled around so she could come down the back of the container feet first. If her ability worked, it would save a whole lot of stress, but regardless of whatever they’d done to ensure the transport truck functioned, it still messed her up.
• When she reached the bottom and her feet touched the deck of the trailer again, she let out the breath she’d been holding. Turning, she grasped the ridge of the container and finally looked at the men in the truck behind her. She didn’t need Smithy’s talent to know Brody was a few notches past pissed off by what she’d done. He said something to the man driving the truck and then rolled down his window and climbed out. What was he planning on doing? Tess held her breath again when he climbed up on top of the truck and then slid down the windshield on his stomach. As he stretched his long body over the hood, she bit her lip and held her breath. Was the man insane?
