Chapter 2 The Sentence

• Belinda POV
• "Did you really kill her?" The detective asked for the fifth time. I don't know why he's finding it hard to believe.
• "Yes" I muttered
• He sighed and whispered to me "come on just tell me the true"
• "I said I killed her. What exactly is your problem?" I fired
• "Is that so then there's no issue,you will be directed to court hoping your lawyer is ready?"
• "Yes "
• "then we are good to go"
• He signaled the people outside to turn off the camera.
• I noticed it was offed then he turned to me again
• "Did you really kill her?"
• "What exactly is your problem,I killed her, I said I do" I was already losing my temper.
• He stared at me for a while and shrugged
• "Stand up" I stood and he handcuffed me.
• "I hope you confess soon" He muttered and I look at him in bewilderment
• 'Why do I feel he knows something' I shake my head 'it can't be'
• I was locked in the cell and will be taken to the Court tomorrow, my case will be hasty
• I opened my eyes and hissed at the peng of sunlight. I used my hand to block the rays and moved from the position I was in.
• I was still in my sitting position and my waist ache so much
• My stomach growled and i rubbed it
• "I'm hungry" I said under my breath
• "Here" someone passed a bowl of rice and soup with eggs to me
• I looked up and it was that detective from yesterday.
• "Eat you will need it" he left immediately and I wolfed down the food.
• "tat tat tat" the sound of the camera and its blinding light almost made me lose my sight.
• Thanks to the nose mask it was better
• "Do you really kill her? Why did you do that? Do you know who's daughter she is?"
• The reporters threw questions here and there
• It took the police effort to get me in
• It's time for my hearing.
• I sat in the defendant seat while my lawyer sat beside me
• Mom,Dad and Catherine were also present
• Catherine nodded at me while I smiled back
• Mom looked tired her dark circle was visible and she might collapse at anytime.
• Dad on his own had this stern look
• I was confused by how devastated they looked.
• I thought I told Catherine to explain to them what really happened
• I gazed at her and she nodded but there's something wrong and I can tell it.
• I also saw Mr Don I avoided his gaze after all I'm guilty of killing his daughter even though I wasn't the murderer I was also a criminal
• "All rise" we all rise as the judge entered
• He sat and we all did
• He opened the case file.
• "Today been 10 February 2022,case GDN1101 the hit and run case we can now proceed" the judge announced
• The detective who invigilated me stood up and talked about everything and how I confessed to everything without leaving anything out.
• My lawyer also stood up and asked me some questions and did cross examination.
• "If that is all then it time to give your sentences" I was sweating and glancing at Catherine
• She promised to help after all
• "Since you admit to your crimes your sentence will be reduced" I held my breath waiting for him to announce my sentence.
• "You are sentenced to 20 years in prison with hard labor" I fell off my chair as tears slipped off my face
• "Catherine!" I yelled
• "Catherine this isn't what you promised"
• Mom was already wiping and dad was trying to console her
• Catherine looked at me with pity as if she didn't know what we planned.
• "Catherine" I yelled louder and rushed towards her but was held by the police they dragged me out as I kept shouting and crying

• "Catherine" I called softly
• "Yes sis" she replied with a smile
• If wasn't for the glass between us I probably would have slapped her
• "What happened, why don't you explain it to Dad and Mom?"
• "Why should I?" I stared at her like she was crazy but she seems to be enjoying this.
• I took a deep breath
• "Why are you been this way?this isn't what we agreed on" she sneered and gave me a mockery gaze.
• "So what? Why should I explain anything to them? You are a murder so face your crime" she calmly said
• My eyes widened in shock.
• "You...you..I will just tell the whole world the truth" I threatened
• "Go on let's see who will believe a murder" she smiled
• "You….." I tried to calm down and breathe.
• "Catherine this…..I….you begged me and now you are trying to turn against me? Turns out you planned this from beginning" I was calm now
• "You finally get it" she scoffed
• "But why? Why?what have I ever done to you?"
• "You are just a bastard dad picked up with pity and married your slut mother"
• "Don't bring my mother into this" I stood up like I was ready to descend on her but the glass was stopping me and my chair fell with a loud bang.
• "Why? Is she not a slut who seduced my dad and married him,since my dad married her he started sharing his attention between us and at a time he come to love you more,I have always hated you but had no chance to get rid of you until this chance came" she spoke with so much hatred that she was yelling at a time and was oblivious of it.
• "So you have always hated me?" I hit my hands on the glass.
• "Yes sis now dad has only me and I will soon get rid of your Mom it just a matter of time" she boasted
• "You….I will…."
• "Save it I need to go I forgot to tell you I got promoted" she flaunt her badge for me to see she stood up and planned to leave but paused.
• "About Mike,he will be back soon but to breakup with you"
• I trembled.
• "What did…...you?"
• "I just let him know his fiancee is a murder he will be here soon believe me and bye sis" she waved at me and winked.
• I was shivering and trying to catch my breath.
• "I swear I will be back for you,I will finish,crush,make you fall and finally kill you just wait" I vowed.
• "Ok sis I will be waiting for the next 20 years bye sis" she left just like that and the tears I was holding poured out
• "Bitch" I hiccupped
• And held my head wailing very loud.
