Chapter 16 I Trust You

• Liam looked at Grace with wide eyes and held out his hands. Grace chuckled and knelt down so that she could pick him up and settle him on her hip.
• Gina lighted the candles and people cheered and sang the birthday song. Of course, because most people didn’t sing in tune, the whole affair was hilarious and out of beat. Edward was in a corner, with his phone whipped out, recording the party. Liam closed his eyes with a small smile and blew out the five candles. When he opened his eyes and looked at Grace, he looked content.
• “I wished that you would be my Maa, Gray…” he whispered conspiratorially in her ear. The familiar burn of tears returned to her eyes as she hugged him tightly against her. She pulled and looked at him, her vision blurred with unshed tears.
