Chapter 6 I Know!

  • I worried too much.
  • A cold smile appeared on Vincent's face, completely clear this time.
  • "I thought you were a rich guy. Turns out, you're just a loser, a freeloader who came to Peony Hall."
  • Aaron glanced at Vincent, his expression changing suddenly. His eyebrows were raised instinctively.
  • Was I just subjected to verbal abuse?
  • Misfortune does come unexpectedly.
  • Carol!
  • Can't you stop causing trouble for me?
  • Aaron didn't say a word, but Vincent clapped his hands, attracting the attention of everyone in Peony Hall.
  • "I apologise for interrupting everyone's enjoyment, but what just happened was truly interesting!"
  • "Who would have expected an outsider to sneak into our Peony Hall banquet?"
  • Vincent laughed and pointed his finger at Aaron. "May I ask, does anyone know who this person is?"
  • Dozens of people in the Peony Hall gathered around, their interest piqued by Vincent's words.
  • One by one, they tried to recognise Aaron, but they found that no one knew him at all.
  • Vincent stopped laughing. "Allow me to tell you all who he is!"
  • "He is Aaron, a former matrilocal son-in-law of the Sallow family!"
  • "Unfortunately, he can no longer be a son-in-law as he has been expelled from the Sallow family!"
  • Vincent laughed again.
  • The attention of the crowd shifted from Aaron to Chloe. Chloe clenched her fists, and Celine, who was beside her, held onto Chloe's arm and lowered her head.
  • Who knew that fool Vincent would expose Aaron's identity so blatantly?
  • Embarrassing Aaron was something Celine would gladly do.
  • But when he involved Chloe, she sensed the guy had malicious intentions!
  • Chloe took a deep breath, realising that coming here today was a mistake.
  • Even though she had already divorced Aaron.
  • But she could still feel the deep disdain in the gazes of the people around her.
  • "Chloe, I'm sorry!"
  • Celine looked at Chloe, and Chloe forced a smile on her face. "It's okay."
  • "As a son-in-law, do you even understand the principles of obedience and virtues?"
  • "Don't you think the child should take the Sallow family name?"
  • "Who gave you the courage to come into the Peony Hall?"
  • Vincent continued to laugh while pointing at Aaron.
  • Aaron sighed and reached into his pocket, taking out a cigarette and placing it in his mouth. He then pulled out a lighter from his pants pocket and lit the cigarette, taking a puff.
  • He wondered why trouble always seemed to find him, even when he didn't look for it.
  • "Vincent, didn't your parents teach you to mind your words when you're outside your home?"
  • Aaron raised his head and locked eyes with Vincent.
  • Vincent shrugged. "They never taught me to mind my word, but they did say that when encountering someone like you, I should give them a taste of their own medicine!"
  • Aaron nodded. "Certainly, very well!"
  • "What are you all doing?"
  • Just as the group of people were confronting Aaron, a woman wearing jeans and a white shirt walked in through the door of Peony Hall.
  • She sported a pair of light-coloured Armani sunglasses, yet her remarkable beauty couldn't be hidden, even behind the shades.
  • "Ivy, you've come at the right time!"
  • Vincent quickly changed his expression and approached the woman with a smile.
  • "We've encountered a troublemaker who sneaked into the banquet. Do you want to go take a look at him?"
  • Ivy glanced at Aaron.
  • "Just kick this kind of person out. I warn you, don't ruin my big event!"
  • "A very important person is arriving soon!"
  • "Having the chance to meet them is a lifetime's worth of luck!"
  • "Anyone who causes trouble … "
  • "Don't even think about staying in Lagoon City anymore!"
  • Ivy's gaze swept over the crowd, and Vincent swallowed nervously.
  • He knew that the woman in front of him was the organiser of the Peony Hall banquet at the Dynasty Pavilion. She was also the young lady of the Parker family, a true member of high society.
  • In Lagoon City, the Parker family's words could make everyone suffer a loss.
  • "You're lucky today, kid!"
  • "Now get out of the Peony Hall!"
  • Vincent returned to Aaron.
  • Aaron glanced at his watch. It was already 8:10. Carol was seriously not on time.
  • "I told you to leave. Didn't you hear me?"
  • Vincent pointed at Aaron.
  • Aaron put down his arm. "Sorry, the person I'm waiting for hasn't arrived yet, so I can't leave for now."
  • "I had an appointment with someone to meet at the Peony Hall in the Dynasty Pavilion tonight."
  • Aaron continued smoking, ignoring Vincent's flushed face.
  • "Hey kid, are you deliberately looking for trouble?"
  • "Do you know where this place is?"
  • "Peony Hall!"
  • "Tonight, only our group is gathering here!"
  • "Take a good look. Does anyone recognize you?"
  • Vincent wanted to grab Aaron by the collar.
  • "I do!"
  • A voice came from outside the door of the Peony Hall, accompanied by the sound of high heels getting closer. A woman wearing a black windbreaker, a long-sleeved hoodie, and black casual pants walked in through the door.
  • She stood at the doorway, her gaze sweeping over everyone, her eyes so cold that they could freeze people into ice cubes.
  • Vincent frowned and snorted. "And who are you?"
  • Before Vincent could finish his sentence, Ivy walked up to him and slapped him across the face.
  • Vincent was a bit confused.
  • "Ivy, you … "
  • Before Vincent could finish his sentence, Ivy slapped him again.
  • Suddenly, Vincent understood something. He looked at the woman standing at the door, then back at Ivy. Tension overwhelmed him, causing sweat across his body.
  • Is it possible that this woman ...
  • Is this the very important person they've been waiting for?
  • Vincent swallowed hard.
  • He felt like a fool.
  • "Ms. Louis, my sincerest apologies. I have been ignorant and have offended you!"
  • Ivy bowed ninety degrees in apology to the woman.
  • This woman was none other than Carol Louis!
  • Carol took off her coat and casually walked into the Peony Hall until she reached Aaron. She threw her coat to Aaron, who reached out and caught it.
  • "It's okay. I understand!"
  • "It's just a minor displeasure to me. Everything should be considered from the perspective of benefits. After all, I'm not injured either!"
  • "Just take off one of his arms!"
  • Carol smiled at Ivy. Ivy turned around. Suddenly, four men in black suits walked out of the corner and restrained Vincent.
  • Vincent looked at the four men beside him in terror.
  • "What do you want to do?"
  • "I am the young master of the Bradley family!"
  • "You can't treat me like this!"
  • "Ivy, you despicable woman!"
  • Two of the men held Vincent's arms, while another one grabbed a chair and swung it forcefully through the air!
  • "Ah!"
  • Vincent's agonised cry echoed throughout Peony Hall. He trembled uncontrollably, drenched in sweat.
  • His arm had been broken!
  • Carol approached Vincent, a smile spreading on her face.
  • "Young man, consider this a lesson."
  • "There are certain individuals you should never provoke."
  • "Such as myself and him."
  • Carol pointed at Aaron while Vincent gritted his teeth. Upon hearing Carol's words, he immediately lost consciousness.
  • Ivy waved her hand and immediately instructed someone to transport Vincent to the hospital.
