Chapter 9 The Frivolous Man

• "This is absurd!" Austin exclaimed.
• His anger rose to the point where he was tempted to strike Gale.
• Nora's face darkened.
• "The prescription came from a personal doctor we trust. We obtained it from a reputable source. How could it possibly be poisonous?
• "In addition, the doctor hails from the Capital City! We bear no grudge against anyone. Why would they endanger my grandpa's health?" Nora countered.
• "Then, can you assure me that the medicine hasn't been altered?" Gale challenged.
• Although Nora doubted anyone in the mansion would deliberately tamper with the medicine, she couldn't entirely rule out the prospect.
• Snap!
• Gale set the sandalwood box down on the ground.
• He gently lifted the lid of the box, revealing thirteen silver needles with a faint dragon-like aura emanating from them.
• Several middle-aged men from the Wheeler family beside him grew increasingly anxious, shouting orders at the security guards.
• "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and pull him away!
• "If Dad misses the golden time for taking his medicine, everything will be over!"

• With the security guards gaining confidence, they approached Gale.

• "Gale, now that you've identified the poison in the medicine, do you have a remedy to save my dad?" Austin asked anxiously.

• Gale nodded.
• Austin offered a profound bow, his voice earnest as he spoke, "I underestimated you before! Should you cure my dad, the Wheeler family will forever be indebted to you."
• Across from him, Nora clenched her jaw tightly, her resolve unwavering. "If you save my grandpa, I will agree to be your fiancée!"
• However, Gale waved his hand.
• "Though I admire beauty, it must be reciprocated. Given your hesitation, let's call off the engagement.
• "I will rescue him, but as for our marriage, let us conclude it here," he stated calmly.
• Nora looked at him with wide eyes, incredulous.
• He had the opportunity to assert his claim over me, yet he opted against it!
• Instead, his desire was to cancel the engagement.
• And create distance between us?

• Gale smiled and remarked.
• Nora gazed at him with a blend of feelings.
• He had been so frivolous in the hospital, yet now he seemed like a different person altogether, making it hard for her to understand!
