Chapter 11 Otis Hanson

  • "How dare you!" Otis roared in fury. Someone had the audacity to insult his family right in front of him? This man is courting death!
  • In a flash, Otis managed to compose himself.
  • "The Howes? You mean the Howes from ten years ago?"
  • Otis sneered coldly and said, "I thought it was someone important. It turns out you're just the survivor of the Howes. I can't believe you're still alive after ten years. What's the matter? What's your plan for returning to Eserith?"
  • Jayce replied frankly, "I've come back to pay respects to my parents and to seek revenge."
  • Otis laughed maniacally. He asked, "Hahaha! Revenge? Do you have what it takes to get your revenge?
  • "I heard you caused quite a stir at Dawson's. Since you don't know your place, don't blame us for finishing you off!"
  • Otis turned and barked, "Kage! Break his legs!"
  • The Hansons would show no mercy to the descendants of the Howes. Given Jayce's current powerless status, they didn't take him seriously at all.
  • There was no need to kill him—crippling him and letting him spend the rest of his life begging would be far more entertaining.
  • At Otis's words, a towering, muscular black man stepped forward.
  • His appearance was intimidating. The man was towering, muscular, and terrifying.
  • He was Otis's bodyguard, a former professional boxer with exceptional fighting skills.
  • When Kage saw Jayce's slender build, he sneered coldly and wore an expression of disdain. He abruptly lunged towards Jayce and grabbed his neck.
  • "Jayce!" Cora cried out in alarm.
  • Facing the formidable Kage, Jayce didn't flinch. With a flick of his fingers, a silver needle appeared in his hand. Kage thrust the needle into his body in an instant.
  • He aimed it at the centre of Kage's brows.
  • Jayce moved so fast that his needle struck Kage's forehead first, even though Kage attacked first.
  • As the needle pierced through Kage's brow, he was petrified. Kage felt like he had turned into stone and couldn't move.
  • Otis was momentarily stunned. Then his brow furrowed, and his expression shifted.
  • He barked, "Kage! What are you doing? Attack him!"
  • No matter how he yelled, Kage remained motionless, like a statue.
  • Otis put his hands behind his back. His expression was grim, and he looked dissatisfied.
  • "What have you done? I order you to restore Kage immediately!"
  • Jayce stepped around Kage and approached Otis, one step at a time.
  • "Order me? Who do you think you are?"
  • Otis began to panic when Jayce started to approach him.
  • "What are you doing? I'm Otis Hanson, a member of the Hansons. If you dare to touch me, you will face my family's ruthless vengeance!"
  • Jayce let out a mocking smile.
  • "Vengeance? Fine, I'll be waiting."
  • With that, Jayce grabbed Otis by the collar and swiftly knocked him down.
  • Otis was merely a spoiled, rich kid. Even Kage, a skilled fighter, couldn't withstand a single move from Jayce. Naturally, Otis was powerless to resist.
  • Pinned to the ground, Otis watched in terror as Jayce drew two silver needles. With a swift flick of his wrist, Jayce plunged the needles into Otis's knees.
  • "Ahhh!!"
  • The silver needles, though delicate, pierced his knees with the force of a drill boring into his bones. The excruciating pain was so intense that Otis nearly fainted.
  • Jayce's needles could both kill and heal.
  • In this case, they rendered Otis's legs completely useless, a condition even the greatest doctors couldn't fix.
  • Two needles, which were as fine as hairs, left Otis convulsing on the ground, drenched in cold sweat. His complexion was ghastly pale.
  • Everyone watching was utterly shocked.
  • This young man had the nerve to attack the Hanson heir!
  • Was he nuts? He had clearly lost his mind.
  • In Eserith, the Hansons were a symbol of power. Anyone who dared to challenge them faced relentless retribution.
  • Who on earth was this kid?
  • "You dare touch me! You're finished! My father will never forgive you! If you have the nerve, let me call him!" Otis raged.
  • Jayce smirked and agreed, "Go ahead. Call him."
  • Otis promptly called his father.
  • "Dad! I've been crippled. Save me!"
  • On the other end, Linden Hanson had fallen into a rage. He roared, "Who is it? Who in Eserith dares to touch my family? Hand the phone to him!"
  • Jayce took the phone, speaking calmly.
  • "The Howes Memorial Day will fall three days from now. I want the big three families to wear mourning clothes and pay their respects at the graves of my grandfather and parents. If you don't, you'll face the consequences."
  • Linden erupted in anger.
  • "Are you the Howes brat? You dare to come back to Eserith? I'll make your life more miserable than death if you harm my son!"
  • Jayce heard the threat and responded with a cold laugh, "Oh, really? Then you'd better listen carefully."
  • With that, Jayce stomped on Otis's leg.
  • "Crack!"
  • "Ahhh!" Otis screamed; the pain was so excruciating that it was beyond words.
  • Linden roared. His voice was hoarse.
  • "You dare!!"
  • Jayce sneered coldly and cautioned, "Don't forget what I told you—mourning clothes and paying your respect."
  • With that, he hung up the phone and turned to Cora.
  • "Let's go."
  • They left the venue under everyone's shocked gaze.
  • ...
  • "Mr. Hanson! Are you alright?"
  • As soon as Jayce left, those who wanted to curry favour with the Hansons rushed to Otis's aid. They lifted him carefully.
  • "Don't touch me! Call for help! I want him dead! Dead!!" Otis screamed hysterically.
  • Otis acted like a madman. He had never experienced such humiliation in his entire life. A mere remnant of the Howes dared to harm him. That man was asking to be killed!
  • The news quickly spread among the powerful families.
  • The Howes' eldest son had returned to Eserith.
  • Howes' demise was rarely mentioned. It was a taboo subject, a result of the big three Conspiracy. Discussing this would displease them. Over time, it was forgotten.
  • Now, the topic has resurfaced, sparking widespread discussion.
  • The Howes had survived.
  • The one that slipped through.
  • ...
  • In Hanson's manor. Otis's room.
  • The whole family had gathered here and was eagerly waiting for the doctors' diagnosis.
  • Despite having hired dozens of top specialists to fly in from all over the country, all shook their heads helplessly.
  • "It's impossible, Mr. Hanson. The damage to your son's legs prevents them from healing.
  • Jayce's strikes were fatal. Only his master, Druce, might be able to heal them.
  • Otis lay on the bed. He was barely conscious of the pain. Upon hearing the verdict, he fainted from sheer anger.
  • When Otis became disabled, the Hansons were furious.
  • "The Howes scum! He dares to come back? That guy is courting death!"
  • "And not only that, he even had the audacity to demand that we pay respects to his family? Has he gone mad? Who does he think he is?"
  • "Where are all of the deceased Howes buried? Pay respects? We should have dug up their graves!"
  • Ronald Hanson, the Hansons' family head, sat in his chair, his face dark with anger.
  • The biggest mistake back then was letting that little Howe runt escape. He never imagined that, ten years later, he would return and cripple his beloved grandson.
  • He was asking for death!
  • "Grandpa, I saw that Howe brat with someone from the Edens."
  • "Hmph!"
  • Ronald's cane slammed into the floor with a resounding thud.
  • The old man was furious.
  • Ronald declared, "Notify the other families to isolate the Edens and seal off all information. Don't let the story of how we killed the Howes spread. Find out where that Howes brat is hiding and bring him back, dead or alive!"
  • "Yes!"
  • When the Hansons family head gave an order, the very ground in Eserith trembled!
  • This command would send shockwaves through the entire city.
  • "By the way, Cora's mother runs a factory in Northvale. We have business dealings with them. We can bring Clara here too!
  • "I want them to witness how we exact revenge for today's incident. Tenfold!"
