Chapter 17 Wild Vegetables

  • The sun was already shining behind the cracks in the wood. Anindira woke up from her deep sleep, but Halvir was not with her. This is the first time Anindira wakes up alone, without Halvir by her side.
  • Anindira immediately got up and opened the window, bringing more and more warm sunlight into the house. The air was fresh, bringing Anindira to lean comfortably against the window, looking around the room.
  • This house, with two window frames on either side, extends facing the main tree trunk, with two doors also in front and behind. The size of this house is large and spacious, about seven by ten meters. It was empty inside as there was only a bed and five large chests, apparently where Halvir kept some valuables as well as clothes.
  • ''Where did Havi go, why did he leave me?'' asked Anindira, ''Maybe because this is at home, he doesn't need to be afraid of wild animals...'' Anindira continued, ''But it's okay, I'm still not ready, so remembering last night's incident'' Anindira kept muttering to herself, ''Havi, why he did do that? So far he's never done anything like that...'' said Anindira, continuing to talk to herself in an empty room where there was only herself, her face flushed with embarrassment at the memory of Halvir's quick kiss last night.
  • ''Ahh...'' cried Anindira, shrieking in a chaotic motion, ''It's embarrassing... Let it go, let's just clean the house!
  • Anindira, who was still nervous about last night's incident, kept muttering while trying to do what she could. When Anindira left the house and looked here and there, she realized something that confused her.
  • ''How do you get down?'' asked Anindira, complaining and frustrated.
  • Anindira is quite good at climbing trees. When competing in fast contests to reach the top of a tree, Anindira often wins against the boys in the village. But, this tree was not only very big, but for Anindira, it was a giant tree. The distance between the branches was too great, it was simply impossible for her to jump over them, each of its main branches was over ten meters in diameter, so such a large house could proudly perch on top of it.
  • Anindira had always been carried by Halvir to and fro, so she didn't realize that there were no stairs or anything else that could help her up and down the house. After pacing around looking for ways to get off, content to whine and complain alone. Finally, Anindira gave up. She decided to just clean the house with improvised tools, breaking a small twig from a branch behind the house, to sweep the floor and clean up the dust and also some cobwebs that had formed here and there. All the doors and windows were opened to replace the stuffy and damp air that had been locked up in the house for a long time. Sometime later, smoke was seen rising from below. Anindira immediately looked down.
  • ''KAK HALVIR!'' exclaimed Anindira, reflexively calling him with great joy.
  • Anindira didn't know who was below because from fifty meters away she couldn't know who it was, but her heart reflexively told her it was Halvir. Hearing Anindira's voice calling him, Halvir immediately went upstairs to pick her up.
  • "Havi, why did you leave me?" asked Anindira.
  • She was impatient and immediately complained when Halvir just stepped foot towards her.
  • ''I'm going hunting,'' he answered briefly, while carrying Anindira down, ''I went hunting for a while because I have blankets in my house, so you won't be too cold if I just leave it for a few hours, because it's still summer…'' Halvir continued, ''After all, you will be safe in my house, no one will dare to break into my territory,'' he continued with a straight face, but his voice sounded arrogant.
  • ''Havi... Are you very hungry?'' asked Anindira, she suddenly made a strange and stupid face when she saw Halvir's prey.
  • "I'm hungry, but... What's your reaction?" What's so strange?'' Halvir asked, still with an expressionless face, while burning the whole game meat and turning it on the fire, ''I also took some wild vegetables and fruit that you usually eat in the forest, I've cleaned it, you eat it! You said the leaves were suitable to be eaten with fatty meat…'' continued Halvir again.
  • ''Ehm... Thank you, this is to give a little taste as well as balance the intake of vegetables. I can't just eat meat alone. I need vegetables and fruit. The wild vegetables here taste better than at my place. Normally, I don't eat them unless I have to, but the quality of the wild vegetables here is the best. I can even munch them without any accompaniment, said Anindira while devouring the leaves of the trees that Halvir had brought.
  • Halvir was surprised to hear Anindira's words, immediately looked at her, and held her hand which was about to feed another leaf.
  • "That means these leaves aren't what you're used to?! You're just forced to eat it, not because you like it?'' shouted Halvir asking, sounding like he was rebuking Anindira, still holding Anindira's hand.
  • Halvir is annoyed to feel his ability as a man has fallen, just to feed a woman, he can't even. So he thought. He couldn't accept being seen as incompetent, only this time did he truly feel like a *Sapphire.
  • ''Let go!'' Halvir shouted while stomping Anindira's hand who was still holding the leaves of the trees, ''I will give you what you usually eat, don't eat, food that you are forced to eat!'' Halvir shouted sternly warning Anindira, '' I am more than capable of giving you just food!'' Halvir shouted, clearly rebuking Anindira this time, Halvir's face showed an annoyed expression with the vegetables that Anindira was holding.
  • ''Ha?!'' Anindira exclaimed in surprise. She couldn't understand why Halvir was behaving like that.
  • “Didn't I tell you, don't hold back your urges! Say! I'll find it for you soon,'' Halvir shouted again.
  • This was the first time Anindira saw Halvir showing his emotions so clearly. Still holding Anindira's hand, Halvir insisted he did not want Anindira to eat the leaves again.
  • ''Huft...'' Anindira sighed, looking at Halvir, who looked emotional only at the wild leaves he picked himself, ''Okay,'' Anindira answered then.
  • Anindira gave up on Halvir's attitude that he didn't want to be seen as not having the ability to feed a woman.
  • Anindira let go of the vegetables from her hand and put her finger in her mouth. Squinting his eyes, intending to tease the cute-looking Halvir with his irritated expression.
  • “You have to tell me, only food! There's no animal that I haven't hunted before, you just need to say it and I'll find it for you,'' cried Halvir, his face serious with sparkling eyes, wanting to convince Anindira, with his above-average ability.
  • ''Havi...'' Anindira called softly to Halvir, ''I'm not holding back my desires... I'm not lying, I'm sincere in saying it,'' Anindira said to Halvir, ''Why do you only hear my words of complaint? But, don't hear my words of praise...'' asked Anindira, ''I said, it's not customary for me to eat it if it's not forced, that's true...'' said Anindira explaining, ''But, the quality of the wild vegetables here is the best, tastes good...'' continued Anindira explaining with a proud face of the vegetables in front of her, ''Do you understand?'' asked Anindira with a smile.
