Chapter 8 Atlas!

  • MIA FRANCISCO
  • "You look so adorable Mia. I am sure Adrian won't be able to take his eyes off of you," My mother said, caressing my cheek with her thumb lightly and softly.
  • "Are you sure mother?" I asked, grinning widely at her.
  • "Of course. I won't ever lie to you. You are gorgeous. No man can look at you and not want to look at you ever again," she assured me.
  • I might look confident on the outside but the truth is, I was nervous. Very nervous.
  • I was getting married to the man I have liked since I was a little girl and not only has he asked for the marriage to he called of twice which I denied but he also promise that I would regret marrying him.
  • I do not know if I was taking the right step or not. Chris has always been adamant and knows doesn't know how to handle his feelings and while I believe that was all that was happening to him, I still felt he might not like me anymore, after all, it's been a long we saw each other and he might have moved on.
  • Two nights ago when he came to me asking for the marriage to be called off and I refused, I had to call his mother on the phone to ask her if I was making the right decision.
  • That night I wanted to call it off but his mother revealed the true reason why they wanted this marriage. To be honest, I was sad and disappointed that he didn't ask to get married to me but it was their means of punishment for always creating one problem for the other and making his father clean up his mess.
  • I never heard of Chris being seen with women or about his crazy lifestyle on the media and until his mother had let me know, I wouldn't have.
  • His father had them all brought before it got out. I was disappointed that he got worse. Back in high school, he was manageable but now he was worse compared to then.
  • I wasn't surprised to hear that he graduated with honors from Harvard because that was Chris for you, he could balance everything.
  • While he was the popular bad boy in school, he still excelled in classes.
  • It hurt me hearing he was sleeping around with different girls and partying all of the time. It hurt me that the reason I haven't seen him since he returned was because of his late-night out and partying lifestyle.
  • That night Elsa, Chris's mom had pleaded that I do not call off the marriage. She told me Chris does like me and he doesn't want to accept it because they were forcing him to marry me which was understandable.
  • I mean anyone in his shoes would do the same thing after all no one likes to be told to do what they do not want to do.
  • "Breathe in," my mother told me and I did ask told.
  • "Now breath out," she said and I did as told.
  • "Good girl. You look beautiful and to be honest, I will miss you a lot. You have always been by my side even before you were born and seeing you go away from me hurts me so much," tears formed in my mother's eyes as she spoke and I couldn't help but laugh at her reaction.
  • "Mother, I'm not dying," I told her.
  • "I know," she replied, wiping the tears in her eyes with a handkerchief.
  • "Then do I feel like that's a eulogy? I mean the way you spoke about me getting married. Mother I will come to visit and besides I won't be staying or living on an entirely different planet, so please," I said to her and she pulled in for a hug.
  • "I know. My little girl is getting married and it's..."
  • "I'm twenty-four mother and not four," I said.
  • "I know and I'm sorry," she said.
  • I pulled away from my mother slowly when I heard someone clear their throat.
  • "Father," I said, smiling at him.
  • "You look beautiful Mia. You have always been beautiful but today is exceptional," he complimented and I smiled at him in appreciation.
  • "It's time for the wedding, shall we?" He said and I nodded my hand before linking my arms with his.
  • I took in a deep breath and exhaled. My father and I began to walk down the aisle. Everyone's attention was on me but my attention was on Chris was standing with the priest, waiting for me to come.
  • He looked handsome today. He has always been. My father let go of my hand as I joined Chris and the priest.
  • I was nervous, very nervous that I decided to look at the flowers in my hands instead of raising my head to look at Chris.
  • In no time, we were saying our wedding vows.
  • "In the name of God, I, Mia Francisco take you, Christopher Lyon to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow."
  • I exhaled deeply as soon as I said my vows.
  • "Mr. Lyon, your turn," the priest said.
  • I lifted my head to see that Chris hasn't started talking and it made me nervous. Fear of him walking away and creating a scene here scared me.
  • The priest called for Chris's attention again. My heart was beating in my chest so fast that I felt like throwing up.
  • The knots in my belly tightened and I wait for his reply.
  • Please speak up Chris," I pleaded.
  • "In the name of God, I, Christopher Lyon take you, Mia Francisco to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow."
  • I heaved a sigh of relief as soon as he said his vow. I was very nervous.
  • "With that being said, with the power invested in me, I now pronounce you Christopher Lyon and Mia Francisco husband and wife. You may kiss your bride," the priest said.
  • I have been nervous since the beginning of today but now it got intense. The first and last time Chris kissed me was on my sixteenth birthday.
  • Even though the kiss did not last for a long time, I cherished it with all my heart.
  • Today I was officially his wife. Chris moved closer to me, removed the veil and my eyes met his.
  • I felt a jolt of electricity down my spine as I locked my gaze with him. I didn't see any sign of anger or hate in his eyes but at the same time, I couldn't tell what was going on in his head.
  • Chris leaned down. His eyes locked with mine with his lips just inches away from mine. A smirk formed on his face that moment before he kissed me.
  • I closed my eyes as my heart skipped.
  • I expected the kiss to end very soon but I was wrong. Chris has made me open my mouth and inserted his tongue inside them.
  • I shuddered from the kiss, feeling my insides rumble and dance in joy.
  • I heard the loud cheers from the congregation. Chris pulled back from me and I licked my bottom lips nervously.
  • It was one hot intense kiss.
  • Chris licked his lips too, staring at me with eyes I could not decipher.
  • Soon, we were taking pictures with family members and people kept coming to congratulate us.
  • "I have always known they would get married," Mrs. Bells said after congratulating us.
  • "I have to. I mean he might be a naughty child but he never fails to show his love and support for her. You remember when he came to the shop asking for what to gift a girl for making her cry?" Mrs. Bells asked her husband and I furrowed my brows in confusion.
  • When was that and what year? Chris made me cry a lot of times as a teenager and he does come back and ask for an apology or get me to talk to him even if he doesn't make it seem like he was apologizing.
  • "She wasn't the one I was asking for," Chris interjected quickly and I knew that was a lie.
  • Chris defends himself quickly only when he was trying to lie.
  • "Fine then," Mr bells and her husband shared a knowing look with themselves before walking away.
  • I knew they did not believe him. Christopher only bullied one girl in high school and that was me. The others girls were people he randomly hooked up with.
  • Chris locked eyes with mine and I raised my brows teasingly at him.
  • "Don't take them seriously," he said and I shrugged.
  • "Of course I won't," I giggled.
  • "I'm serious okay?" He said.
  • "And I said I have heard. Why are you so worked up?" I teased him.
  • "Well, I just got married, and trust me when I say I am not happy about it," he said and I felt my stomach sink.
  • The couples on the wedding day are always the happiest but it seems that wasn't the case for Chris. He looked bored and I could tell.
  • "So how about this, let's skip the party and get newly Weds business, what do you say? Me and you on the bed, minus the clothes," he winked and I felt my heart skip.
