Chapter 5 Charmed

  • CHRISTOPHER LYON
  • I must be a fool for not being able to recognize Mia at once. I mean it wasn't my fault at the same time that I didn't recognize her.
  • She looked beautiful and hot at the same time. Her ocean-blue eyes are still as beautiful as ever and even if couldn't remember anything else, I should have been able to recognize her with those eyes because they were unique and rare.
  • The Mia standing in front of me is different from the Mia I grew up with. The woman in front of me was wearing a green satin gown that hugged her body perfectly, accentuating her curves with a black gladiator heel on her feet.
  • Mia's hair was brown in the past but now it is blonde. The Mia of the past wouldn't wear any dress that was below her knees or anything that hugged her body perfectly.
  • She wore baggy all of the time and only I and her family knew she was blessed with an hourglass shape.
  • "Long time no see Chris," she said in her sweet melodious voice that I have always loved. As much as I claimed to dislike Mia, I knew I didn't dislike her.
  • I had completely forgotten the purpose of the meeting and what I was supposed to do until she snapped her finger in front of me, getting my attention.
  • I cleared my throat and adjusted myself on the seat.
  • I suddenly lost my voice. I had forgotten how to act and what to say to her. Mia Francisco has always been beautiful but now it's like she unlocked another stage of beauty and was in that stage alone.
  • I was shamelessly roaming my eyes around her body and I couldn't help the dirty thoughts that filled my mind as I stared at her.
  • She pulled back a chair and sat down.  "How long have you been here?" She asked me, snapping me out of my thought.
  • "I have been here for over thirty minutes now," I exaggerated.
  • "Oh my goodness. I didn't know. We were supposed to meet at three and I left home fifteen minutes before three. You cake earlier than I expected," she said, glancing at her wristwatch to check the time.
  • "Of course, I came earlier so that I can get down to business as soon as possible," I told her, making the skin between her brows crease.
  • "Business? What business?" She asked and I mentally rolled my eyes at her question.
  • "Can we at least order first, I'm starving," she suggested.
  • I didn't come here to eat and I have no intention of eating. All I wanted was to tell her to refuse to marry me as I have no interest in marrying her.
  • She might look beautiful and be hot now but getting marriage at twenty-four isn't a dream of mine and I do not see myself marrying now.
  • "I have not come here to have lunch. Can we get down to business?" I raised my brows so that she knows I was serious.
  • She seemed taken back by my reaction but I could care less. I decided to avoid her eyes as the more I looked at them, the more I found it hard to look away.
  • Mia let out a small laugh after some seconds making me wonder if what I said was funny.
  • "What is it?" I asked her inquisitively.
  • "You haven't changed one bit, Chris. I mean you are still being mean to me. I thought we were past that stage," she said.
  • I had forgotten that attitude like this from me to her did not affect her that much. Mia might be a cry baby but she does have thick skin.
  • "I am not being mean to you and that's not me being mean okay?" I defended.
  • I was just being strict so I could get down to business and tell her what was on my mind and get the fuck out of here.
  • "You are still strikingly handsome as always," she said and I felt my heart skip.
  • Little words from Mia always affected me. I clenched my fist as I tried to control my emotions.
  • I realized that I needed to tell her the main reason I came here as soon as possible or I might end up not doing so.
  • "Thank you," I replied curtly.
  • I cleared his throat. "You seem to like the idea of us getting married?" I spoke in a questioning manner and I noticed how her brow rose in a questioning manner too.
  • "Excuse me?" She spoke rhetorically.
  • I cleared my throat and sneered at her.
  • "Why are you feigning confusion?" I asked her, slightly irritated.
  • "Excuse me? I am indeed confused," she defended.
  • "You want to marry me or not?" I asked after taking in a deep breath and exhaling.
  • "Excuse me? Am I supposed to answer that?" She questions back and I mentally groaned.
  • Give it to Mia to know how to rile me up easily.
  • I frowned at her. "It's a simple question. I ask you, do you want to marry me or you do not want to. I was told this is an arranged marriage. I mean this is an arranged marriage and usually, people don't buy the idea of it. I mean you can't just set two people who don't know each other up for marriage because you feel it fits right? Do you understand now?" I told her.
  • I watch as she swallowed the lump in her throat. "I...guess." she stuttered.
  • "But we do know each other, don't we? And this isn't an arrnaged marriage," She said and I facepalmed myself.
  • "Are you sure Mia? Do we know each other? How and when?" I questioned.
  • She knows me but she doesn't know me at the same time. She doesn't know what I like or what I love doing and also we weren't even friends and it has been six long years since she last saw me.
  • "Are you kidding me, Chris? If this is a way to annoy me then please don't," she said in a joking manner as if I was joking with her.
  • I clicked my tongue in disbelief. "Mia, you and I might have grown up together but we are not friends and you do not know me," I tell her, hoping I was passing a message across.
  • The skin between her brows creases. "Where are you heading Chris?" She folded her arms across her chest, waiting for an answer from me.
  • I pinched the bridge of my nose.
  • "You can't just arrange two people because they grew up together to get married and expect it to work which is why I am asking if you are okay with this idea. I mean this madness of our parents," I said, all in one breath.
  • She furrowed her brows in confusion. "I mean..." She trailed off as she fidgeted with her fingers.
  • "I mean..." She cleared her throat, feeling nervous and I guessed it was because of the way I was staring at her.
  • "I mean it's a new world and arranged marriages aren't a thing anymore but..." I cut her off.
  • "Exactly they aren't a thing." He said firmly.
  • MIA FRANCISCO
  • Chris has not changed one bit. The moment my eyes landed on him, I knew he was the one although he was more mature than he used to be.
  • He was dressed in black denim jeans and a white polo shirt that fitted him perfectly, showing him well-built arms and a well-structured body.
  • I felt my heart skip the moment he called my name and I knew he was surprised to see that I was the one standing in front of him.
  • I mean I changed too. I was no longer a brown-haired woman but a blondie now and I was wearing a dress that hugged me.
  • I was always a fan of baggy and I still am but I wanted to show him a different side of me today. To show him a different Mia. I wanted him to see that I have grown and am a changed woman.
  • The way he stared at me shamelessly made me cautious that I had to sit down. I mean I loved that he sees me as a woman and he was admiring me but I couldn't handle the rate at which my heart was beating.
  • Chris has not changed one bit. I was expecting to see a different side of him, a more gentle side of him but he was still the same.
  • I didn't understand him or what he was talking about.
  • "Exactly what you are saying? What do you mean by that?" I asked furrowing my brows.
  • I mean he didn't let me complete my statement before cutting me off. Why was he suddenly talking about arrange marriage when this wasn't our case.
  • "Mia, look. I know you have always been a good girl and you listen to your parents a lot but why do you want to do this? Why do you always have to please them?" He asked, confusing me with his statement.
