• Captain Bentley grinned at Patrick. “I thought it would be a few more days, Detective, before I’d get a chance to speak to you. I should have known better.” He glanced to at Rhonda. “Is he behaving?”
• Rhonda smiled. “As well as expected.” Patrick coughed lightly and released her hand to hold the pillow into his side. The smile now gone from her face as she watched his color blanch.
• It took him a few minutes to catch his breath before he turned back to look at the Captain. “So… what happened?”
