Chapter 6 Eyes Yellow As The Sun

  • The hooded figures walked down the street. One of them, wearing a blue hood, turned her head at all times, as if checking if no one was following them. Soon they saw huge stalls and shops of different types and sizes, entered a particularly bizarre one. Black and silver skulls decorated the place, along with eyes and brains in glass. The place smelled musty and hadn’t been cleaned in a long time.
  • The person made an exclamation of disgust at seeing a mouse passing through the shelves.
  • - Are you sure this is the right place? - said with a female voice.
  • - Yes - answered the other, using a green hood -, be patient.
  • A bald, old man, hunchback, wearing black clothes revealed himself. He smiled with his crooked teeth and made a reference.
  • - Hello... m'lady! I wasn’t expecting you so soon.
  • - I need some information... about that person and her family. The real one. - said the greenish one.
  • The man’s smile seemed to increase.
  • - Oh. I have what you want. And you already know the payment.
  • The woman extended her arm that contained a blue tattoo of a fox. He pulled a dagger from the scabbard and cut his arm just above the mark, causing the blood to be poured into the small glass that the old man had provided.
  • "It’s done! " he said hoarsely.
  • "Good thing no one followed us. " said the one in blue.
  • "I wouldn’t be so sure! " replied the other. " There’s someone here.
  • The hooded figure looked towards a round mirror, old and dirty, with a golden frame fully adorned. He removed his green hood and revealed his face.
  • "I see you’ve been spying too much, little girl. The show’s over.
  • The fox-headed woman stared at her. The long red curls falling on her bust, and the yellow eyes penetrating deep into her soul.
  • "Kendra! Kendra! " someone called her.
  • The blonde woke up scared. She didn’t realize she’d fallen asleep before class started.
  • "All right, Kedy? Was I having a vision? " asked worried Mira.
  • "Something like that. A kind of fox woman.
  • "Fox woman? Like the Kitsunes of the kingdom of Mantua?
  • "I think so. But how do you know about it?
  • "I read in this book about magical beings. And guess what? " said the friend smiling from ear to ear. "I think I found out his name. "You were talking, sorry.
  • Kendra laughed. Mira was as uptight as ever. From the moment they set foot in high school again, they began to research the blood necklace and Mira told him about the mysterious man who appeared in their dreams. Since the friend saw the book of creatures and magical beings, the friend began to search for a name, or species of the stranger.
  • "There were two women in a weird store. I was asking for information about someone, something like real family. One of them had a strange fox face. "Kendra stopped and thought for a few moments. "On second thought, I think she was referring to you.
  • "Me? " asked Mira, confused.
  • "Good morning, class " the girls were interrupted.
  • A black woman came in, her yellow eyes looked at each one in that room, her purple hair stuck in a braided bun, perfect with no lock out of place. The teacher dressed in yellow pants and a black tank top. In her right ear, a dragon-shaped earring and five smaller ones above it.
  • "I am the teacher Maya Trys and today we will start the primary magic class.
  • Mira scrambled at the wooden chair, placing her arms over the middle wallet in front of her.
  • The teacher noticing that everyone was paying attention, continued:
  • "We have four primary magic elements: air, earth, fire and water. "She drew four symbols on the board, small circles, followed by stones, flames and then waves.
  • Maya made a movement with her hands and the drawings moved, forming small blue mirages of a whirlpool, falling stones, a fire and a wave in front of her.
  • "Each and every magical creature is born with its primary magic. But there are those who can control them all, controlling the energy of the universe and perhaps having contact with the gods. Not much is known about these beings, because they have been extinct for centuries. These special people who were born into different kinds of different races were called priests.
  • Upon hearing that word, Mira’s heart seemed to stop for a few seconds. Even if she didn’t understand why.
  • "The only ones who can still have a remnant of this power are the descendants of these. But their power is nothing compared to a true priest. "Continued the teacher.
  • After the first class, the second came soon after.
  • The teacher was a woman with brown hair, pointed nose and square glasses. She wore a beautiful red dress that matched her eyes of the same color. Mira guessed that she was a vampire, which scholars considered enemies of the first teacher’s species, the werewolves.
  • Mira looked impatiently at her watch. It was still half an hour before basic spells were over and she just wanted to eat something. She spent the whole night researching blood necklaces. But nothing helped her figure out why the emperor wanted her own. She couldn’t bleed on the necklace. But what did it matter to that man? Why did he take your mother instead of you? The questions wandered through her mind and the young woman was tired of not having the answers.
  • "Miss Collins? Are you paying attention?
  • "Hmm... yes! forgive me, Miss River.
  • The signal was finally heard. The second lesson was not as interesting as the first, since she could not do any spell. So he ended up rambling a "little ".
  • She looked at Kendra who had left the room, was curious to know more about her dream.
  • Someone was at the door. By the smile of Kendra was Jack, and she was right. But there were more people with him. There were four escorts in total, a redheaded girl, a little taller than Kendra and a little shorter than herself, with blue eyes, a black girl with orange eyes and voluminous hair fulfilled with a flower adorning them, a redhead boy as the first girl only that his eyes were of a green water and a smile that would do some and an Asian with black hair, purple eyes and quiet countenance.
  • "Hello! How are you? What are you doing here? " Kendra said.
  • "We came to see you. " said the redhead looking at Mira and reaching out a little shy, did not trust new people.
  • "I’m Isabella Amnus, nice to meet you. You must be Mira, right? " continued the redhead.
  • "Mira Collins " smiled. "Nice to meet you.
  • "I’m Mirelle Seles, pleasure " the voluminous curls waved.
  • "Don’t worry, Mirelle doesn’t like to be touched. " said the redhead.
  • "I’m Elliot, Isa’s brother. " he said still smiling.
  • "And my name is Rick. Wing. "The Asian shook his hand.
  • "Me and Mira have already met. " Jack said smiling.
  • "Unfortunately. " The brunette replied would be.
  • The girls gave her confidence in a way, they didn’t seem like people who would hurt her. But she would still be attentive. Already the boys seemed quiet, but still did not trust Jack. Anyway, felt uncomfortable with strangers. That’s why she and Kendra got along so well.
  • "We came to take you for a walk. " said Isa.
  • "I thought we couldn’t leave. " said Kendra.
  • "We just can’t get very far. And we’ll be back before curfew. If we pass the time I have a way in. "Blinked at both of them.
  • "What are we waiting for? " Mira said excited.
  • Didn’t mind breaking the rules, never did. Also, she was full of Miss Astrid not passing her any information about her mother and what was happening.
  • They set off after Isa who led the way and Kendra seemed apprehensive.
  • "There’s always a first time to break the rules, Kendra. " said Mira. "And it only goes if we’re not there on time.
  • "You’re a rule follower then? " Mirelle asked Kendra.
  • "Yes, she is. " replied Mira for her. "So I wonder how you met. Since she never talks to anyone.
  • "She’s a friend of Jack’s. " said Mirelle. "And besides, Isa and the other meddlers approached her. There was no escape.
  • Mira’s smile is gone.
  • "Jack’s, huh? " said the girl the looking would be.
  • "You don’t seem to like him very much, Mira. " commented Rick.
  • "Really! I don’t like him. " Mira replied would be.
  • "She hates me from the first day she saw me. " Jack laughed.
  • As she took the first step out of school, Mira thought:
  • "At last freedom."
