Chapter 6 I am Colton Lowell’s Wife

  • "Alright, alright, dear; just remember to pull out those needles."
  • The old man led her down the stairs and personally opened the front door of the small Western-style house.
  • Selene pushed past him and bolted.
  • "Chase her! Get that girl back for me. She hasn't pulled out my needles yet," the old man bellowed.
  • Hearing his shout, Selene sped up even more, racing down the dirt road that led from the hill.
  • The heat inside her surged, dizzy spells blurring her vision. Selene bit down hard on her lower lip, using the pain to force herself to stay conscious.
  • At the foot of the hill, a Bentley sped along the highway.
  • Selene held her breath and dashed in front of the car, spreading her arms wide.
  • Screech—
  • The sound of the car braking sharply rang out as she fell to the ground, the Bentley stopping just inches from her.
  • The three people inside the car recognized her and frowned.
  • With her vision blurred, Selene struggled to her feet and started pounding on the rear car window. "Please, help me. Give me a ride."
  • The car door unlocked, and she pulled it open and climbed inside, Colton sitting on the other side.
  • But her vision was too cloudy to see his face clearly, only a blurry figure.
  • On alert, she pressed tightly against the car door. "Don’t touch me. Take me to the hospital. I am Colton Lowell’s wife."
  • It was smart of her to use his name to protect herself.
  • But did she ever consider how humiliating it was for Colton to have strangers see her in such a state?
  • "Make a call. Get Jack here."
  • Colton’s deep, cold eyes behind thin lenses emitted a chilling light.
  • "Right away." Mason, sitting in the passenger seat, immediately pulled out his phone.
  • "Ugh, it's so hot..."
  • Selene, pressed against the car door, completely succumbed to the effects of the drug, her consciousness fading.
  • She leaned against the door, greedily soaking up the coolness that comforted her.
  • Soon, even that cool spot began to feel burning hot.
  • Desperate, she reached out to find more comfort and unintentionally touched Colton’s hand resting on the seat.
  • That comfortable coolness made her cling even more, and she grabbed his hand and pressed it against her cheek.
  • "What are you doing?!"
  • The intense heat shocked Colton, who reacted with irritation and tried to pull his hand back.
  • "Don’t!"
  • Selene gripped his hand tightly, not letting go, and even moved closer to him.
  • Her slender arms wrapped around his neck, and she pressed herself against him.
  • Colton reached out to push her away, but Selene unexpectedly kissed his lips.
  • Buzz—
  • A tingling sensation shot through his scalp, his eyebrows knitting together as he stared at her flushed face.
  • The softness in her mouth was exactly like the girl from that night.
  • But he wasn’t sure if all women felt the same when kissed.
  • His understanding of women was embarrassingly superficial!
  • In front of him, Selene continued to kiss him haphazardly.
  • Her inexperienced technique was almost akin to licking an ice lolly, describing her current actions.
  • Yet, this naïve approach effortlessly ignited Colton’s desire.
  • The man’s sexy Adam’s apple bobbed as his body heated up, the tightness of his suit pants creating an urge to press her down. Fortunately, his rationality still held…
  • "Behave!" Colton grabbed Selene’s shoulders and pressed her down onto the seat. "Get to the apartment in fifteen minutes!"
  • The driver and Mason, hearing his urgent and irritable voice, glanced back.
  • Their eyes, quite unfortunately, landed on something they shouldn't see, nearly cursing out loud.
  • The self-control of the Second Young Master of the Lowell Family was unmatched, but the spectacle before them was indeed shocking.
