Chapter 1 Saved A Man
- "Is there anyone outside? Can you help me open the door? What time is it now? Can you hear me?"
- In the pitch-dark space where she couldn't see her hand in front of her face, Selene Jacobson couldn't tell where she was being held. She could only desperately bang on the door.
- It was her engagement party tonight, yet inexplicably, she had been knocked out in the dressing room and awoke here.
- She was frightened, panicked, and helpless, truly on the verge of insanity.
- Click!
- A force from outside the door came through, causing Selene to stagger back several steps before she managed to stabilize herself.
- A tall figure flashed in, the only source of light vanished, and the door was locked again.
- "Who are you?"
- The newcomer was clearly a man, and Selene instinctively retreated further.
- "Shh, if you don't want to die, keep quiet and don't make a sound."
- Colton Lowell, suffering from a shoulder wound and losing a lot of blood, seemed to have been drugged with an aphrodisiac. His body was uncomfortably hot yet weak, and he slumped against the door.
- "You're injured?"
- The heavy scent of blood wafted through the air, and Selene instinctively drew closer to the man.
- "I won't die. Stand back, and don't come any closer."
- The drug in his system was eroding his rationality. Colton was like a wounded beast, highly vigilant.
- But Selene knew none of this. She cautiously approached him and crouched beside him. "Let me see where you're hurt. You must have lost a lot of blood with all this blood smell. If we don't stop the bleeding soon, you might go into shock."
- Her medical instincts kicked in, and she reached out to feel in front of the man.
- "Uh—"
- Colton suddenly covered her mouth.
- At the same moment, hurried footsteps approached from outside, sounding like many people were coming.
- After the footsteps faded, the man removed his hand. "Stay away from me. You're too close."
- "No, this won't do. I need to get you to a hospital."
- As a doctor, her duty was to save lives.
- Selene tried to lift Colton's arm over her shoulder to help him up.
- Unexpectedly, Colton suddenly rose, pinning her to the ground.
- His body was burning hot, scalding her skin as if to melt her.
- Selene panicked and began pounding on the man's shoulders. "Don't do this. Let me go. I'm trying to help you. I..."
- "Shh—"
- Driven by the drugs, Colton fiercely kissed her lips, swallowing all her words.
- His actions were aggressive, suffocating Selene, leaving her only able to desperately push against his chest.
- But it was useless. At that moment, Colton was a wild beast, and she was the prey caught in his grasp, unable to escape!
- Rip!
- Her floor-length evening gown was ruthlessly torn into a knee-length skirt, and tears of despair and helplessness streamed down Selene's face.
- Then, a tearing pain overwhelmed her, causing her to tremble in agony as her first kiss and her virginity were brutally taken by this stranger.
- "Don't worry; I'll marry you…"
- After everything finally subsided, Colton uttered those words and fainted on top of Selene.
- "Who wants you to marry me?"
- Pushing the man off forcefully, Selene staggered to her feet and stumbled out of the dark room.
- Pain, fear, sorrow, and humiliation overwhelmed her as she ran crying toward the banquet hall.
- The engagement party had long ended, and the room was pitch-black, with tables and chairs neatly arranged.
- She didn't know how her fiance had explained things to her family, but it didn't matter anymore. She was no longer pure; how could she dare to hope for anything?
- "I'm sorry. It's my fault."
- With reluctant tears streaming down her cheeks, she ran to the front hall.
- Outside the hall, a cab was waiting. She ran out and opened the car door.
- In that instant, her heart softened.
- If I leave now, that man might die there.
- The so-called benevolence of a doctor meant she couldn't just watch someone die.
- She couldn't be that cold-hearted and ruthless. She ran back to the front desk and asked the receptionist to call an ambulance for Colton.
