Chapter 6 Provocation

  • After Kent heard Samuel’s words, his hatred toward Julian grew. However, he didn’t dare to reprimand them and only wanted to correct their decision. Hence, he put on a smile. “Old Mr. Parks, but for the thing we agreed upon…”
  • Abigail was terrified that the Parks family would bring up what happened at the hotel yesterday if Kent continued speaking.
  • She immediately tugged Kent’s arm and shook her head, hinting for him to stop talking.
  • With Abigail’s reminder, Kent quickly stopped talking and smiled. “Haha. Yes. Old Mr. Parks, this is the fate. that connected our families.”
  • He thought to himself, “The Barton family couldn’t compare to the Parks family in any way. There’s no benefit in angering them. I better be patient and find a chance to correct this issue.”
  • Abigail had been scolding Annalise in her mind over a thousand times. She suspected that Annalise must have badmouthed her when Annalise met Julian at the hotel yesterday.
  • “If not, why would Julian give Annalise the betrothal gift? After all, as long as Julian isn’t blind, he could definitely tell who is prettier. What man wouldn’t want a beautiful wife? But it’s okay. No matter how Annalise badmouthed me behind my back, I will still be able to find chances to present myself and outshine her. What does an ignorant country bumpkin like Annalise have to compete against me?” she mused.
  • With that in mind, Abigail smiled and asked, “Old Mr. Parks, you will be staying in Horington for a few days, right? Why don’t I take you guys to visit Horington’s old towers? There are tons of exciting vintage buildings. and some traditional delicacies that have been passed down for centuries there.”
  • As long as she could get chances to spend time alone with Julian, she would be able to show him her plus points and win him over.
  • “No, thank you. We have to go back to Jadeborough tomorrow,” Samuel rejected her offer with a smile.
  • “She was disgusted with my grandson before, and now that she sees how outstanding my grandson is, she regrets it? There’s no way I’m giving her another chance, he thought.
  • “Grandpa, let’s set a date for the wedding,” said Julian.
  • Samuel then smiled at Kent and said, “Mr. Barton, you’re their elder as well. What do you think about setting Julian and Annalise’s wedding for the tenth of October? We will have someone to look out for auspicious dates. However, if you have other opinions, we can discuss them and see.”
  • “Okay. We’ll set it on the tenth of October,” Kent responded.
  • It was the 27th of June that day. There were three more months to October. Julian and Annalise had just met one day before. They still hadn’t developed feelings for each other.
  • There were more than three months left. It was more than enough for Abigail to make Julian fall for her.
  • “Good. Good. Then it’s settled,” Samuel said happily.
  • “Grandpa, then let’s…” Julian wanted to leave.
  • There was no way Kent was going to let such an opportunity slip. He said enthusiastically, “Old Mr. Parks, today we have set a marriage between our families! No matter what, we have to have a meal together. Let’s just eat at home. Even though it’s nothing fancy, we must show some of our sincerity.”
  • “Sure. Sure. I’m more than happy to do so. Thank you, Mr. Barton,” Samuel replied.
  • “You’re too polite. Abbie, please take Mr. Parks to look around.” Kent quickly gave Abigail a chance to fight for her future.
  • However, Julian had already walked in front of Annalise. He lifted his brows and asked, “Aren’t you going to show me around and let me visit your room?”
  • “Sure!” Annalise smiled softly. She then intentionally gave Abigail a meaningful glance. Abigail was furious and frustrated. How dare that bitch provoke me?” Annalise then brought Julian upstairs.
  • Once they entered Annalise’s room, Julian couldn’t help but frown. “Such a plain room,” he thought. “I’m used to living a simple life!” Annalise seemed to have read Julian’s mind.
  • She didn’t tell Julian that she had another house. A lot of her important items were placed there.
  • Speaking of important items, she was reminded of something and quickly took out the bank card and returned it to Julian. “Here you go.”
  • “Why?” Julian’s face fell.
  • “I’m returning it to you,” said Annalise.
  • “Return? Ms. Barton, are you trying to call off the engagement?” Julian lowered his head and stared at Annalise.
  • “We are not real!” There was no way she was going to accept his 300 million dollars.
  • Once she finished, a finger was pressed to her lips.
  • Julian placed his index finger on Annalise’s lips. The atmosphere suddenly became very ambiguous.
  • Julian shushed her just as Annalise was about to slap his hand away.
  • Annalise opened her ears and heard footsteps.
  • The next moment, Julian suddenly kissed her on the lips,
  • “Mm…” Annalise wanted to push Julian away. She heard someone speaking outside.
  • It was Abigail. “Alexander, I stay in that room ahead.”
  • Abigail stayed on the first floor. However, she had been changing in the dressing room, and it was still messy. She hadn’t asked the housekeepers to clean it.
  • That was why she took Alexander to visit a clean guest room on the second floor.
  • Hearing Abigail’s voice, Annalise stretched out her arms and wrapped them around Julian’s neck. She then started reciprocating the kiss and made out with him passionately.
  • Apparently, she did that on purpose as she wanted to frustrate Abigail.
  • Julian sensed Annalise’s passion and got fired up. He wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, locking her in his embrace.
  • “Sure enough, I must pick the woman I want by myself,” Julian thought.
  • There were tons of girls in Jadeborough trying to throw themselves into his arms, but Julian had no interest in them.
  • However, Annalise made every cell in his body scream in excitement.
  • The two of them continued kissing passionately.
  • As Abigail walked past Annalise’s room with Alexander trailing behind, Abigail suddenly screamed out loud, “Ah!”
  • “It’s so infuriating! Annalise, that bitch, had always acted innocent and pure, but now that she met an outstanding man like Julian, she quickly gave herself to him. How shameless!” Abigail scolded in her mind. The third son of the Parks family, Alexander, saw them making out and curled his lips. He found the situation amusing and interesting.
  • He had sent someone to investigate Abigail and Annalise the day before.
  • Abigail was the Barton family’s princess. She was the apple of her parents’ eyes and was doted on since she was young. Being a talented girl, she was proficient in many aspects.
  • Currently, she was a third-year medical student at a university in Horington. Despite her young age, she was already quite popular in Horington.
  • She had already gotten postgraduate recommendations when she was only a third-year student. Furthermore, she was already an attending doctor at Horington Hospital of Traditional Medicine.
  • Besides that, Abigail was also a popular fashion designer with her brand.
  • A woman who was that capable in multiple fields like Abigail would shine no matter where she went.
  • As for Annalise, she grew up in a village. She never had any academic education. She was brought to the city by her uncle just a year ago.
  • Throughout the year, she didn’t study or find any proper jobs. All she did was date the Quigley family’s son. It was hilarious.
  • It was quite a surprise to Alexander that his beloved brother had fallen for a woman like Annalise.
  • “Oh, wait. He didn’t exactly fall for her. I guess he’s just too confident. After being rejected by Abigail, he purposely chose Annalise. He thought that with his capabilities, he could change Annalise and turn her into a different person. Hah! Does he seriously think he can change a foolish country bumpkin like Annalise? What a joke!” thought Alexander, sneering in contempt.
  • He suddenly thought of an amazing idea to defeat Julian and crush his confidence.
  • As he thought about it, he raised his brows gleefully, pleased with himself.
