Chapter 7

  • ETHAN
  • If there's anything I wasn't expecting, it's that we'll ever cross paths again. The fact that she left that day still has my mind in an uproar but then it soars above an octave when she steps foot inside my office, seeking for a job. I couldn't stand it. After what transpires that night, I still can't place my finger on the reason why I shouldn't ask for her to thrown out of my company.
  • I step foot out of my office and grabs my key from the guard on the stand. I proceed for my car and climbing behind the wheels, I ignite the car's engine and reverse.
  • Once out of the building, I increase my speed up the tarred roam as my hands tightens against the steering wheel. Had I known this would be its repercussion, I wouldn't have had anything to do with her. It happened that when I finally decided to give another woman a chance, she disappointed me. Making me see really clearly now that they are all the same - all women are the same.
  • I stop at the familiar restaurant that belongs to one of my cousins before turning off the car's engine and slipping out of the car. I shut the door and manoeuvres towards the building.
  • " Welcome sir." The two guards standing by the door bows as they hold out the glass door for me. Not even bothering to acknowledge them, I walk in and taking long strides towards the corner, I round it and plops myself on the swivel chair behind the counter.
  • "Hey dude, are you okay?" Axel says eying me as he comes to stand before me. Momentarily casing a glance up at him, I let my fingers into my hair and continues to dishevel it while my head doesn't stop swirling with thoughts - mostly ones belonging to her.
  • Though it was just one night with her, it feels like a decade and that just upsets me and sets me off the rails. Is there a way to dump those memories of her off to where no one knows?
  • "Should we go out? You look real moody. And since am done with the inspection I came here for today, my workers will continue their tasks while we go something and catch fun." Axel suggests. I know the poor guy was just trying to light up a smile on my face but I stone him a stoic expression and he clamps his mouth shut all at once.
  • That should be enough to tell him to quit trying as that fun he just mention has me this way and turns me to a mess. I could have stayed right home dealing with Athena's bullshits it's all gone anyways. It's done already.
  • An idea pops up in my mind as I remember what I promise to do once I set my eyes on her. She's gone but still- with the aid of Axel, he can help keep a tab on her.
  • "You're still still free right?" Sitting upright, I ask him and he tears his gaze away from his phone to look at me.
  • "Sure. Let's go party?" He asks, his face lighting up excitedly. Deciding to burst his god-damn bubbles, I break the bombshell and tells him the whole incident. For him to do the job so well, I know I have to tell him each and everything. He listens, and as I continue speaking, I'm likewise piquing his interest.
  • "So you want me to spy on her and tell you every details. As the day goes by?" He asks and I nod. I frown, knowing what's to come when a mischievous glint roams about his eyes. So yeah, what have I gotten myself into?
  • "I never knew you were the one nightstand type." He remarks and I swing my leg up, aiming to kick him where the sun doesn't shine but he retreats before I hit the target, having me release a low groan.
  • He smirks while I stand up, retrieving my car keys from on seat. "I should head home and try to sort my thoughts out. Perhaps I can get some sleep thereafter." I tell him and he nods, rounding the corner with me and also seeing me off to my car.
  • Once I made my way inside my mansion, I stop at the living room to take in the deserted state of everywhere. All I can hear is the clattering of dishes against his other coming from inside the kitchen as they are probably preparing dinner.
  • "Good evening, Si-" One of the cooks scurries over to me and bows. I cut her off, "Go set the table." I order and she feebly nods, turning around and running back inside the kitchen.
  • I feel so much like going to sleep but then, I know since I haven't had lunch, I won't be able to sleep if I skip dinner yet again. Shrugging off my tuxedo, I throw it on the couch and my car keys. Leaving it for the maid that's just coming over for it, I walk over to the dinning room.
  • Different varieties of meals that I don't even care to know their names is been set on the table and just as they stand by for if I need any any other thing, wave them off and they hightail it back inside the kitchen.
  • Picking up my cutleries, I start eating. Since I am just forcing it in, I take a minimum of what should take me through the night before pushing the chair back. I rise on my feet and place the cutleries back beside the plate. Dabbing at the sides of my mouth with the tissue, I chug down a gulp of water before walking out of the dinning room.
  • Throughout my walk to my room, I struggle to keep my eyes open. Today wasn't much of a long day but am in so much distress that it feels so.
  • ~~
  • " You're not doing it the right way." Ricky sighs yet again and my face hardens before I let out a scoff and puts down the pen, to lay back against my seat and cross my arms over my chest.
  • It's a new morning and even after Ricky forces me to come to work today, he still hasn't stay back and leave me to my own business. Deciding to work on one or more files as agreed on by both of us since am not in the right state of mind, he still leeches unto me telling me am doing my business wrong. Ok, smart. I guess he's the one to show me how to hold a freaking pen, huh?
  • "What do you mean by that?" I raise an eyebrow at him and he gives me the look you're-serious-about-that?
  • "Just take a look, bro. What you were supposed to input here, you're penning it down inside this boxes instead." He palms his face as he finishes, pointing his other free hand at the mistakes which I look down on and realization dawns on me.
  • "Oops, I never knew." I says and he laughs, " Yeah, cause that lady is driving you crazing, bro."
  • I want to retort and tell him to 'fuck off' when a knock came on the door and Axel steps in.
  • "Hey, dude" Ricky greets and I watch as they both share a hug before Axel proceeds over to me. "Good morning, Ethan." I acknowledge him a curt nod of head as he pushes back a chair and sits down. I just want him to open up the conversation and tell me what he's able to get from spying at for. It's just the space of yesterday to today but only info will count; to feed my curiosity.
  • "When I trailed her home yesterday, I found out that she was overly happy as she's just gotten a job offer from Griffin Johnson; the CEO of Johnson Cooperation. Your opponent. "He finishes and my jaw ticks, my hand rigidly holding onto the edge of my desk as it tenses down on it.
  • I should have known. Griffin always finds a way to always be ahead of me but I haven't been giving him the chance. Guess he's able to this time around anyways. He must have known she came seeking for a job so to be one step ahead of me- he employs he. He freaking offers her a job at his fucking company.
  • "Are you okay?" Ricky tones and momentarily staring from one to the other, I shake my head once and that was enough to tell them Axel's report did no good whatsoever to me.
  • "Is there a way you can contact her? Either one of you?" I question them and as I expect, Alex bobs his head up and down. I nod even as he looked over at Ricky and says, "You'll have to write the letter while I drop it off at her apartment."
  • Once Ricky nods, Axel faced me. "So why do you want us contacting her?" He asks and my lips curls up into my signature smirk as I remember my son. With him, I can snatch her away from Griffin freaking Johnson before she accepts his offer.
  • ~~
  • This isn't the best idea but I still I get inside my car and drive off to the restaurant. She's going to come and am going to throw the offer down at her. I don't know why am striving so much to have her on my side but I know it's not just because I want to gain another point on Griffin. It's partially because of that but as pathetic as it may sound, I know Griffin might start having feelings for her and damn it- that will be a lose on my part.
  • Her body and curves are worth dying for so Griffin most definitely won't want to let her go. Her hair, eyes, figure and everything about her charms heart and what if Griffin falls for her? I won't be able to forgive myself even till the world ends.
  • I won't be able to leave with the guilt that I chase her in the hands of someone else all because I was hurt she left with a goodbye.
  • Turning off the ignition, I keep a mental note to myself to remind me to try my possible best at convincing her to work for me. Well, that's if she's actually going to come.
  • "Good afternoon, Sir." Greets falls on me as I walk into the restaurant and I only wave my hand in the air a feel times then no more as I occupy one of the two chairs seats by the secluded edge. As I sit down, I leave my glasses on and drop both my keys and phone on the round table.
  • "Sir, what should we offer you?" A waitress stops by my table and asks. Without looking up at her- wanting to keep my identity- I put a finger out at her. "Drop the menus and just bring two bottles of chilled water. I'll order later on."
  • She did as I instruct before walking off and not quite long, she came back with a tray of two bottled waters and likewise two glass cups. She leaves while I glance down on my wristwatch. It's past fifteen but she' still hasn't arrives. I lean my elbows on the table and palm my face. Mere looking at it, am already feeling like she's not going to show up.
  • "Hello?" The familiarity in that voices makes me snap my head up at the direction. My face almost breaks out into a smile but I push back the urge. She's here! Great- So god-damn great.
  • "Giselle, right?" My eyes fixates on her face as I asks and she simply nod, alongside a small smile I don't think is that genuine.
  • Feeling like clearing the air, I clear my throat and instantly throw my offer on the table. " What am really in search of was a Nanny, not a secretary. You're in for that?"
