Chapter 6

  • GISELLE
  • I quit my five jobs and began searching for one, comfortable job. Something that won't keep me out all day so I can still have time for my son. I'll forget about my unfortunate one-night stand and focus on restarting my life. This time around; for the better.
  • As I scroll through my cellphone, I see an ad from the Hunt Cooperation which says they're in search of a secretary. I apply without wasting time and head over to the company on the day of the interview.
  • Having made sure to be well dressed, I sure conclude I have no problem even as I step into the elevator. As it dings, I step right out of it and let my eyes scrutinize my surrounding. A gasp escapes my lips at the glamorous sight.
  • The sparkling tiled flooring can be seen as it glisters right down my feet. Different colognes swims through the air as passerbys makes their way both in and out. Looking around and not knowing exactly where to head to, I'm sure anyone can get lost in here if he or she does not trend with caution.
  • " Hello Ms." Fully aware am not just going to stand here till eternity, once I sight someone approaching my way, I quickly obstruct the woman's way, making sure I have the slightest of beam across my face. She returns it and cocks a brow, inquiring about why am not making way for her.
  • "Can you please point out the way to the CEO's office for me?" I ask her and she nods, turning around before flickering her index finger at the office right before our eyes. " You can go in there. I don't think he's occupied."
  • "Oh, great. Thanks." I smile and made way for her first before smoothening my dress against my curves and hurrying over to the office. As I venture further, I can't deny not feeling a strong aura that's currently surrounding the atmosphere. My instincts screams out to me to turn right back and leave but persistent, I maintain my ground and soon enough, I stop by the door and place a knock on the glass door.
  • "Can I come in?" I find myself saying after waiting for close to thirty seconds and still yet to hear a response. Just as I turn around to leave, I heard a slightly familiar voice usher me in. "Come in."
  • That voice. It sounds like one I've heard not quite long ago but just wasn't able to fathom or place a finger on when and where. Releasing a puff of air from my breath, I push the glass door back and step in. Closing the door behind me, I nibble on my bottom lip as I briefly close my eyes- I have to get myself together and give this all I have.
  • "Yes?" And that voice was enough to tear my eyes off the flooring I've been ogling at. At the same time, he raises his head up and as my eyes meets with his, I gulp down a bile of nothingness down my throat as the former expression on his face drops and his face turns stoic, rigid and cold.
  • My hands instantly finds their way over to my chest and before I could get a grab at myself, I fold my arms over my chest as I gradually shifts back on my heels but still didn't leave as a remembrance pops up on my head. One that tells me that I need this job and shouldn't let what had happened ruin the life I want to get- for not only myself but also for my son.
  • "What are you doing here?" He slams his hand on his desk and bellows, causing me to flinch backwards; scared. If anything, I wasn't expecting to meet him here or ever encounter him for the rest of my lifetime but here it is- reality just strikes.
  • "I- I-" It turns out I couldn't find my voice. My voice came in nothing but shutters, causing my throat to chung with dryness. This is going to be harder than it should and not wanting to leave just like that, I move closer towards his desk.
  • "I saw an ad here and since it seems like there's a vacancy for the post of a secretary, am here to apply." I muster up the courage and says in a go. His jaw ticks and I can swear I see as his back tenses, his lips tilts up but it was only for a short while before his tears his eyes away from him.
  • Thinking I'd manage to appease him, I push the swivel chair across him back and was about to plop down on it when he fired into his cellphone, causing me to shiver. " Guards!"
  • His voice so brutal and hurting, I swat my hand away from the chair and jump back in fright as the door flings open, and two husky men clothed in tight fitted tuxedos bursts in. As their eyes scrutinize the office for the intruder which was none other than me, embarrassment coats my blood as I find myself turning towards him with a pleading look.
  • "Throw her out. Now!" The moment he half yell, I know I was nothing but done for. The security officers eyes darts towards my direction and before I know what's going on, I was dumped right out of the company; left on the floor.
  • Helplessly, I struggle to stand up my feet. A streak of tear drops down my cheek and I quickly dab at it with the sleeve of my top. Heaving a sigh, I duck my head avoiding prying eyes of passerbys. I feel so ashamed of myself- I shouldn't have thought of coming here and as my instinct had warned, I really should have listen but me being ready to do anything to cater for my son's needs, I flips off all caution into the air.
  • "Ms, let's get in." A feel someone pat my shoulder and turning around to meet with a woman who looks to be in her early fifties, I shake my head and look away. She can go in. I'm not ready for petty talks as its the least of my problems.
  • "You mean you've met him, Ethan Hunt?" she chirps and at that, my head snaps towards her. My brows creases in confusion and when she nods with a shrug, realization dawns on me. It's him- the Infamous Ethan Hunt! Never for once had I realized that and hell... A gasp escapes my lips and it quivers. I had a one nightstand with the mighty billionaire.
  • "Oh goodness!" I palmed my face and not waiting for another of the woman's queries, I strides off into the street. No doubt, I know I currently look unorganized and that being the least of my problems, I venture down the road even though am without the knowledge of where my feets are taking me.
  • I didn't know my walks has sway until I hear a car hooting loud at me. In fright, I jumped back. Not waiting to receive a scolding from the driver, I turn around and strolls off, my head still dunk into my hair as a cover for my face. I feel greatly embarrassed, saddened and above all- guilty. Guilty for leaving Ethan without a goodbye. Whereas I ought to have await his return in the stead of leaving.
  • "Why weren't you watching where you're headed?" A figure obstructs my way and voices, having me hesitating before I stop. When I look up at the handsome face, I cuss under my breath. He's the driver and was the one that almost ran into me. About to sidestep him, he gives me no chance and sidesteps me, a smug smile on his face.
  • "I'm so sorry. I know you may scold me but just bottle it up and forget that I was about implicating you and let me off the hook. I'm headed somewhere and would-" I clamp my mouth shut when he chuckles. My head snaps up at him, in wonders of what's so funny.
  • I made to walk past him when he just wouldn't stop but beforehand, he sidesteps me; much to my annoyance.
  • "Can you get the hell out of my way?!" Having had enough of bottling up my emotions, I glower in anger and at that, he stops. My chest heaves while my hands crumbles into fists.
  • "I don't know of why a damsel like you is in distress but I'd love to introduce myself, by then you can decide if whether or not I should leave." He utters and I start the countdown, hoping that in less than a minute, he'll be done and over with his introduction and leaves me to find my way.
  • "I'm Griffin Johnson, the CEO of Johnson Cooperation." As he stretches forth his hand for a handshake, tears blossoms down my face as I didn't hesitate at returning the handshake. Even through my miseries, his identity was enough to light up a smile on my face.
  • "Come, I'll give you a ride home." He offers, smiling down at me. I nod and waiting for him to let go of my hand, I sniff in tears as he did and leads the way while I follow. I can feel a pang against my ribcage which hurts.
  • Had I knew he's none other than Griffin Johnson, I never would have given him an attitude. In surprise as he opens the front seat door for me, I gently bow appreciatively as I climb into the car. Closing the door, he also enters behind the wheels and igniting the car's engine, he speeds up the tarred road.
  • Resting my head against the headrest, I was close to a nap and realizes I fell into slumber in the process when the car screeched to an halt. My brows furrows, "What are we doing here?"
  • I recollect giving him the number and address of my apartment so I can't help the confusion now that I find myself at a popular restaurant's parking lot. Without responding, he climbs out of the car and closing the door, he peeped his head in at me from the window.
  • " What are you getting?" He asks and I shake my head negatively, "Nothing." He frowns and I resist the urge to smile. He may have drop down here to grab something for himself so I just don't want to be a burden on him.
  • "C'mon, you most definitely look hungry since you look so pale. Never mind, I'll grab you same thing as mine." He smiles and as I was about rejecting his offer again, my stomach growls and pretty fast, I turn my back against him.
  • He must have catch the slightest glimpse of my hot fiercely red cheeks but he merely chuckles and feeling his presence no more, I scoot further in my seat while I watch him disperse inside the restaurant. Patting my stomach, I look round the car. It's a black Lamborghini and just as its exterior- likewise was its interior glamorous.
  • Once he takes me back home, I want to nothing than retire to my room. Then tomorrow, I'll start the hunt for a new job again. I sigh as he approaches, slipping into the car, he hands over both bags to me and shuts the car's door.
  • "Thanks." I say, passing him his and placing mine on my lap. He simply shrugs and starts the car, motioning it up the road. As I open the sumptuous food, it's the sight of bacon, cheese and some fries.
  • As I dig into it, an idea popped up in my head but it didn't stumble out of my mouth. Till he pulls over at my apartment, I still couldn't get the words out.
  • "Hey!"I turn around to face him, my hand abruptly stopping on the door as he says, eying me cautiously, "I'll offer you a job at my company."
