Chapter 15 The Agreement Rewritten

  • "Pass me the fountain pen on the desk, Thaddeus," Aurelia says, her voice carrying a quiet, unmistakable steel as she sits cross-legged on the floor of the darkened study, surrounded by three years of corporate filings, personal agreements, and dusty legal briefs.
  • Thaddeus looks down at her from where he stands near the open terrace door, his dark eyes fixed on her face as the cool, damp night air sweeps into the room. He reaches over to the polished mahogany desk, picking up the heavy platinum pen, the very one they had used to sign their initial marriage contract, and walks over to sink onto the floor beside her.
  • "Which clause are we striking first?" he asks, his low voice vibrating in the quiet room as he hands her the pen, his warm fingers deliberately lingering over hers.
