Chapter 4 Get His Forgiveness

  • "Sir, I apologize for my rudeness earlier. Please forgive me."
  • Upon entering the office, Mike quickly apologized to Edward while wiping the sweat from his forehead.
  • The Bauhinia Card was rare, average bank tellers wouldn't be able to recognize it.
  • Only those at managerial or higher levels could recognize it.
  • Even the CEO at the headquarters would treat Bauhinia cardholders with respect.
  • Mike was having a headache. How could such a prominent figure come to his branch?
  • And why would they even wait in line to withdraw money?
  • Are they trying to test our service?
  • Edward looked at Mike calmly and asked, "Are you feeling nervous?"
  • Mike forced a smile. "No, of course not. I'll prepare coffee."
  • He knew the importance of being a Bauhinia Cardholder and just wanted to move on from the incident just now. He would grovel at Edward's feet if necessary.
  • Otherwise, not only would Beatrice, an insignificant teller, be in trouble, but even he, the branch manager, would face consequences.
  • "You don't have to do that. I'm here to withdraw money," Edward said nonchalantly.
  • Mike wiped his sweat once again.
  • He's not going to forgive me now.
  • Mike was deeply regretting his actions just now.
  • He worked hard for years to reach his current position, but the words of the Bauhinia Card holder were enough to bring him down.
  • Mike pleaded pitifully, "Sir, please spare me, I was wrong."
  • His arrogance disappeared.
  • Edward smirked. "I'm only here to withdraw money. Please move on to the procedure."
  • Mike forced a smile even though he was nervous. "Sure. I'll do it immediately."
  • After taking the Bauhinia Card from Edward, Mike asked, "Sir, how much money would you like to withdraw?"
  • "Seventy-five thousand dollars."
  • From Mike's attitude, he already knew that this Bauhinia Card was uncommon.
  • His top priority was to withdraw money to pay for Clara's treatment and find a place to stay.
  • "Seventy-five thousand?" Mike exclaimed.
  • Edward frowned. "Is there a problem? Do I have to make an appointment to withdraw such a huge amount?"
  • "No, that's not what I meant. Bauhinia Card holders don't need to make an appointment in advance." Mike looked puzzled and explained, "One needs to have 150 million dollars in cash to apply for a Bauhinia Card. I was surprised that you wanted to withdraw a small amount."
  • Edward was shocked.
  • 150 million in cash? Not 150 million net worth?
  • Such a huge amount to apply for a card?
  • My dad is that wealthy?
  • After a moment, Edward composed himself. "Let's withdraw seventy-five thousand first."
  • Mike nodded and quickly helped Edward with the withdrawal.
  • Edward placed the money in a black trash bag and left the office.
  • Mike wanted to ask Edward for a favour, but he held back after seeing Edward was in a hurry. Mike sat on his chair looking exhausted.
  • At the bank lobby, everyone was watching Edward and murmuring at him as he left the bank with the black trash bag.
  • Beatrice was frozen behind the counter with reddish eyes.
  • She wanted to apologize to Edward when she saw him, but his pace was too fast.
  • She sighed and entered Mike's office.
  • "Mr. Brown, what happened?" Beatrice asked after seeing Mike's haggard look.
  • Mike forced a smile. "That person is the holder of the Bauhinia Card, and the qualification to apply for the Bauhinia Card is to have at least 150 million in cash!"
  • Beatrice turned pale.
  • She couldn't afford to offend such an important customer of the bank.
  • Thinking about her attitude towards Edward, she regretted it so much that she felt like slapping herself.
  • It was like a pie falling from the sky if he was interested in me.
  • How could I push him away and offend him?
  • "Mr. Brown, you must help me," Beatrice pleaded.
  • Mike scratched his head in annoyance. "I need someone to help me too! If the gentleman is not satisfied with my service, he could make the bank fire me."
  • Beatrice could feel the despair now.
  • Mike suddenly thought of something. "By the way, didn't you say that the gentleman just now was interested in you?"
  • Beatrice nodded gloomily.
  • Mike slammed the table excitedly. "Thank God! There's still hope for us. Beatrice, I need you to apologise to the gentleman just now. You'll have to do anything to get his forgiveness, or else, it's the end for us."
  • "But ... " Beatrice hesitated.
  • She had to listen to Mike's orders because she relied on him for her career.
  • She bit her lip and nodded in agreement.
  • Mike reminded her as she was about to leave his office, "Remember! Do whatever it takes. It's for you and me."
  • Leaving the bank, Edward got into a taxi and headed straight to the hospital.
  • While in the car, he received a text message from Beatrice, inviting him to dinner to apologize for her earlier rudeness.
  • Edward smirked disdainfully, understanding the underlying meaning of the message.
  • However, he had no intention of pursuing the earlier incident and he didn't want to have anything to do with Beatrice, considering her relationship with Randy.
  • That piece of trash!
  • Edward immediately paid 15 thousand dollars for Clara's treatment after arriving at Orilorn Hospital.
  • The remaining 60 thousand dollars was enough for him to buy a small house.
  • But, renting a place would be a better option because he would still have to renovate his house if he bought one.
  • As he stepped out of the hospital, an Audi A4 stopped in front of him.
  • "Hello, my ex-brother-in-law!"
  • Randy snickered at Edward after removing his sunglasses.
  • "Hey, where are you going?" Edward smiled faintly.
  • "Of course, I'm going to pick up my girlfriend for a date. She's working in the bank next to the hospital."
  • Randy noticed the black trash bag in Edward's hand and insulted him. "Tsk tsk ... You're picking up trash as a living after divorcing my sister?"
  • Edward's smile disappeared.
  • Randy continued, "Oops, I forgot that your mother is still in the hospital fighting for her life and you have to pick up trash to pay for her medical bills. Our family had helped you so much, and you still have the nerve to divorce my sister. If you hadn't divorced her, maybe our family could have supported you a little more."
  • "Help me?" Edward scoffed and glared at Randy. "If I remember correctly. I bought this car for you, right?"
  • Randy flushed instantly and retorted, "Bullsh*t! This Audi A4 is worth 45 thousand dollars! Where do a bumpkin like you get the money to buy it for me?"
  • Then, he spat at Edward and sped away.
  • Edward was furious.
  • The next moment, he texted Beatrice back.
  • 'Decide the time and place. I want a deluxe room.'
