Chapter 115 Swap Lives!

  • Boom! Lightning lit up the living room. Edward’s face twisted into a rare, feral snarl. With a roar, he gripped the cold, gleaming dagger and charged straight at Chen Tiansheng. The raw intent to kill made Kunlun and Lone Wolf go pale. Kunlun even shouted, “Master Edward!” He tried to stop him, but it was too late. In a blink, time seemed to slow. Chen Tiansheng’s face went ghost-white. His heart hammered. His pupils blew wide. Gone was his calm, collected front—only the thick stench of terror at death remained. He had zero doubt Edward would drive that dagger down. Life or death, all in a heartbeat. “Ah!” Chen Tiansheng let out a wild shout. No telling if it was fear or a last-ditch scream to fight back. Thud! Edward and Chen Tiansheng slammed into each other. Shlick! The sound of a blade sliding into flesh echoed through the room. Then, both men seemed frozen in place. Drip… drip… A trail of bright blood fell between them, peppering the floor until it turned red. Kunlun and Lone Wolf were stunned. The metallic stench rushed into their noses, snapping them back to reality. Kunlun sighed, bleak. “It’s over…” His words had barely fallen— “Ah!” A shrill scream cut the air. Kunlun and Lone Wolf jolted hard. That voice—it was Chen Tiansheng. Right after, they saw terror, confusion, fury—all kinds of emotions swarm across Chen Tiansheng’s pale face in a blink. Finally, a vicious anger took over that deathly white face. His whole body started trembling. “You, you—damn you—” “Heh.” Edward’s cold chuckle sliced through, cutting off Chen Tiansheng’s roar. Then he raised his left hand and shoved the stunned Chen Tiansheng away with a sharp smack, staggering back himself. Thump. Edward dropped onto the floor, his face draining fast, but his mouth curled into a chilling smile. His eyes stayed sharp as blades. His right hand clamped over his abdomen. The dagger, still gleaming cold, was buried in his flesh. Blood streamed out in gulps. Boom! The sight made Kunlun and Lone Wolf’s minds go blank with a thunderclap. Their expressions snapped to horror, pupils blown to the limit. How—how could this be? Wasn’t that blade supposed to land in Chen Tiansheng? “Master Edward!” “Mr. Raine!” After the shock broke, Kunlun and Lone Wolf rushed to Edward. “Ah… Lunatic! You bastard—absolute psycho!” Chen Tiansheng screamed, flinging his blood-soaked hands. His worldview felt shattered to dust. He’d never imagined Edward would pull a stunt like this at the end. He’d even felt death brush over him—yet the second Edward touched him, that terror flipped to raw panic. In that instant, Edward shoved the dagger into his hand, then gripped his wrist and drove the blade hard into his own abdomen. All of it—a calculated setup. With Chen Tiansheng’s cunning, he figured it out fast. Edward never meant to kill him, not for a second. He wanted a near “life for a life” to vent the rage and hatred for what had been done to his mother. This way, even if it broke family rules, there was room to maneuver. Under Edward’s orders, Kunlun and Lone Wolf had beaten Chen Tiansheng to near serious injury. And in the end, Chen Tiansheng “stabbed” Edward. Break the rules like this, then get shielded by the family head—how does the family law even judge it? “You don’t even dare trade lives—how the hell are you gonna play with me?” Facing the almost crazed Chen Tiansheng, Edward let out a scornful snort. His eyes held nothing but contempt. Chen Tiansheng went blank. For the first time in his life, he felt fear of another person. Since he was a kid, he’d been the Chen family’s elite, one of the strongest competitors for heir. His pride, his glory—they gave him the confidence to look down on everyone. Now, facing Edward, a “bastard” cast out from the Chen family— He was scared. A man who’d use any means, step by step, even design himself into the plan, hurt himself if he had to—how terrifying was that? Chen Tiansheng asked himself, and the answer was clear: he would never do what Edward just did. That bastard—pure psycho. Thud! Chen Tiansheng crumpled to the floor. Edward’s sneer still rang by his ear. In that moment, his confidence wavered. And then came a tidal wave of shame, rolling over him like floodwater. A Chen family elite, losing to a bastard? Unforgivable. That bastard deserved to die. “Ah! I’ll kill you!” Chen Tiansheng’s eyes went red. He lunged at Edward, murder in his bones. “Game’s over.” Edward raised a brow and looked to Kunlun. “Do it.” Boom! Kunlun stepped forward and threw a brutal punch, blasting Chen Tiansheng across the room. When he hit the floor, his chest heaved, and he spat a mouthful of blood. His whole spirit collapsed. “You wanna fight, I’ll play along. But you touched who I vowed to protect—I’ve got a thousand ways to ruin you.” With Lone Wolf bracing him, Edward pushed himself up. From start to finish, he never showed a flicker of pain. On that pale face, there was only a cold, contemptuous smile for Chen Tiansheng. He turned and walked out of the villa with Kunlun and Lone Wolf. Outside, rain poured down. Lightning thrashed. A Rolls-Royce and a BMW slid through the storm, speeding away from Heavenly Villas. Inside the Rolls-Royce, Edward’s clothes were soaked through. His right hand still clamped the wound at his abdomen. Half his shirt was dyed a deep red; the rain had washed it lighter when they left the villa. But fresh blood kept welling up, turning it scarlet again. “Master Edward, hold on. We’ll be at the hospital soon.” Kunlun was all tight focus and worry. “No rush. It’s not that bad.” Edward gave a carefree smile. Kunlun’s brows knit tight, his mind churning. Even if Edward had controlled the angle, avoiding a kill shot, long-term blood loss could still be fatal. What truly scared him was Edward’s calm. With wounds like that, Kunlun could keep it together too—but his iron will was forged climbing out of piles of corpses, through war and hell. Edward? Kunlun drew a long breath and asked, low, “Master Edward, you planned this from the start, didn’t you?” “What else?” Edward’s smile carried bitter weight, his eyes going deep. “If I don’t muddy the waters, how do I get past that family rule? The man who hurt my mother has to pay. Even if I have to pay too, I won’t hesitate.” “This was too risky—a trade of lives… If that stab had been off by a hair, Master Edward, you’d be dead.” Kunlun still felt a chill from it. Edward’s smile turned even more bitter, helpless. He slowly turned to the window, watching the sheets of rain. “Kunlun… Birth and prejudice—both are mountains in people’s hearts. Climbing over them? Damn near impossible.” “With my birth, I’m bound to be at a disadvantage in the Chen family. If I want revenge for my mother, and I don’t use a life-for-life, tell me—what else can I do?” “Master Edward…” Kunlun’s voice softened. Thinking it through, there really was no other way. His mother had been humiliated. Revenge had to be taken. Take revenge, and you break the rules. Only this kind of move—wounding the enemy while wounding yourself—could balance both. “The process doesn’t matter. The result does.” Edward’s smile eased a notch. “Winners take the crown. All that matters is the outcome, right?”
