Chapter 7: The Married Life

  • Chapter 7
  • Because I used to wake up early at six o’clock, even if I force myself to sleep again, I can’t. So I choose to get up. After prayer, I went straight to the bathroom to take a bath. I just wore a simple t-shirt and floral shorts up to above the knee. I just combed my hair and let it loose. It was longer than shoulder length. As I remember, my mommy used to prepares our breakfast every morning. Hence, as a housewife, I also have to do that job, even if I say I will be paid because we have in our agreement.
  • After I adjusted myself and glanced at the mirror, I came out of my room and went straight to the kitchen. The atmosphere was silent, and I could see outside the house from the glass wall, which was still dark because it’s still very early.
  • I opened the fridge. The only thing inside was bottles of water and cans of beers. There are a few pieces of eggs that are available to cook inside the refrigerator. There was no milk at all. Even cutlery with two spoons and fork, glass, plates, saucer, and no mug at all for coffee, there is no electric kettle. Obviously, people who live here do not have coffee. I do not know If I will cry or be happy, what kind of life I entered, I want to squat and call on the floor, how I live, I can’t live without coffee, especially when I wake up morning. I’m a coffee lover.
  • I looked outside the house. It was going to be bright. I just hope he wakes up early. I checked the time on my phone, it’s seven o’clock, at least he said yesterday we will buy it today. Still, I did not expect it to be like this. We ate dinner last night, only delivered pizza, and I was embarrassed to look inside the kitchen. After eating, I immediately went inside my room. I want to just clean the house to do something, but I’m too lazy to move, maybe because I really need to have coffee first as I used to. When I was still studying, coffee was really the first thing I had in my stomach, especially when I came out of my room. The nanny always greeted me with a mug of coffee.
  • I missed my previous life, but I must be strong. I wanted it, so I had to prove it. I lived far away from them, especially from my father. I need to prove something to him.

  • Alex woke up because he felt thirsty, and there was no bottle of water on the table beside his bed. He checked the time on his phone. It’s already seven o’clock in the morning. He got up and washed in the bathroom.
  • He saw the woman’s back which was obviously newly bathed. He inhaled the fresh smell of it that the scent of its soap and shampoo, a part of his body, came to life. He restrained himself from hugging her from behind.
  • He took a deep breath before approaching the woman. He had to calm down. First, he might not be able to hold back suddenly. He might hug her and locked her in his arms.
  • “Good morning,” he greeted and walked past the woman standing on the glass wall staring out of the house.
  • Diane was surprised by the voice coming from behind her and the body of the man who just passed her. “Good morning too!”
  • She followed the man walking towards the fridge with her gaze.
  • He took a bottle of water and drink it. Diane saw her prominent Adam’s apple again. It was too early for her jaw to drop as she stared at the man as if he was a commercial model.
  • “You woke up very early?” he asked her.
  • She was surprised when he suddenly looked at him. She averted her eyes before answering him because she felt the redness of her cheek. She could not deny that she was caught staring at him.
  • “Yes, because I used to wake up early. Actually, it’s my body clock to wake up at six,” she replied, without looking at the man.
  • “Is that so?” he says as he was approaching to her.
  • “Yes,” she answered because she can hear the steps of the man approaching.
  • She felt tense as she looks in the direction of the man. And to her surprise, she almost bumps to his sturdy chest as she turned. She can inhale the warmth breathe of Alex when he speaks.
  • “Alright, let’s go and eat breakfast outside.”
