Chapter 6: Take It Slowly

  • Chapter 6
  • “Do you know how to cook?” Alex asked in a low voice.
  • “Yes. a little,” she replied.
  • “That’s good because I don’t know how to cook,” he said, staring at her.
  • They’re finished eating when Diane excused herself to use the washroom, “I’ll just use the washroom for a minute.”
  • “Go ahead.”
  • She stood up and walked towards the bathroom when she was inside she quickly called Margie, after three rings, she answered.
  • “Hello, Margie, you’re still sleeping?” Diane asked.
  • “No, I just woke up? Why did you call? Are you done of your duty?”
  • “No, I was fired at work,” she said in a low voice.
  • “What? How it happened?” Margie shouted in the other line.
  • “It’s a long story. I might go there and get my things. I will give you also the payments of the house for two months, so by that time, you can find someone to share with you,” she said. “In case we can’t see each other when I went there, I’ll just leave the money in the drawer of our dressing table.”
  • “Okay,” she responded.
  • “Do not worry when there is time. I will visit you at your work,” she added before she cut off their conversation, then she hurried out.
  • Her companion may be bored during her time in the bathroom. When she came out of the bathroom, she saw the man talking on the cellphone. When he was her, he ended the call and put his phone in his pocket.
  • “I’m sorry, I took so long,” she apologized.
  • “It’s okay, nothing to worry about, are you done? Let’s go?” he said, staring at her.
  • They left the restaurant. And went straight to the car parked in front of the restaurant.
  • Less than an hour’s drive, they reached her house. The parking is difficult because it’s only a cheap place. Most of the residences here simply go by bus or train, few homes have a car, and they’re primarily parked in a vacant lot behind the building.
  • “Do you want me to come with you?” Alex asked.
  • “No, I’m fine. I have only a few things. It’s only one trolley bag,” she replied.
  • “Alright, if you need help, just call me.”
  • “Sure I will, thank you.” She got down in the car, stepped towards the lift, and went to their apartment.
  • Margie is not there anymore, for sure she left for work. She was almost finished packing when her phone rang, it was an unknown number again.
  • “Hello?” she answered.
  • “If you are going down, just call me so I can pick you up in front of your building. You don’t have to come in the parking,” said the man in the other line.
  • “Sure,” she responded.
  • She finished packing all of her things when she put the money in the dressing table’s drawer. She took her phone to call the man. When she came out of the elevator, she saw the man get down the car, take the bag she’s holding, and put it behind the vehicle. A few neighbors were looking at them. It’s infrequent to see a fancy car coming into this area.
  • Of course, a handsome man behind me, they’re might think that he a model or even an actor because of his stance as an actor.

  • “This is your room, the next room is mine, take a rest. I know you’re tired the whole day. It’s almost sunset. We better order food later for dinner,” Alex told her. “I don’t have much stock of food in the house. Tomorrow, we will go and buy groceries. I know you have a lot of things in mind and want to ask about me. Let’s take it slowly. We have a lot of time to learn more about each other. Just trust me, I’m a harmless person.”
  • She just nodded and took her bag inside the room. As soon as she entered her bedroom, she saw queen size bed. The bedroom is not too large, but it looks comfortable. Almost everything in this bedroom was colored in white. The wall is empty. There’s no frames or painting.
  • “It’s my first time to enter this bedroom. Yesterday I only cleaned the living room and didn’t finish cleaning the whole house,” she said while looking around. Actually, it’s the two-bedroom she didn’t clean. Anyway, even she didn’t clean this bedroom, it still looks neat, with no mark that it was used before. “Besides that, I have the small lamp in both corners of the bed, which I can turn on when I go to sleep. There’s a small dressing table, a wardrobe, and a door on her right side, that indeed a bathroom door.”
  • After she unpacked her things and put all her clothes in the wardrobe, she went inside the washroom to shower.
  • “I am really exhausted the whole day. I can’t think properly at the moment.” She sighed and soaked in the water.
