Chapter 15 Don't Leave Me
- Actually, Oscar had once favored Evan quite a bit.
- He used to think that, given Evan's personality, he'd never agree to marry this soon. But right now, Evan wasn't rejecting the idea.
- Oscar was always a good judge of character, and he knew Evan wouldn't compromise himself for anyone or anything.
- If Evan wasn't saying no, that meant he had genuinely accepted Serena in his heart.
- And Oscar trusted Evan's character. He knew that once Evan made a promise, he wouldn't go back on it, and he'd certainly treat Serena well.
- All he wanted was for Serena to be happy.
- "Serena, Evan knows how to make people laugh. He knows how to take care of people, how to really cherish them. Honestly, you're a better match with him." Willow understood that the key here was Serena. Only if she agreed would this situation get resolved.
- Right now, Evan was looking at her, waiting for her answer. A flicker of nervousness he'd never felt before ran through him.
- Upstairs, Damien's gaze remained fixed on Serena, his already unfathomable eyes now even deeper.
- "Hah, so this is how it's turning out? What a mess ... " Leo burst out laughing. Thankfully, he was upstairs, out of everyone's sight. "Is this good news, or bad?
- "Damien, do you think Serena will agree? To be honest, Evan's no worse than Liam. And knowing Ms. Wren, she'll probably go along with it in a situation like this, right?"
- Damien didn't answer. He just kept his eyes locked on Serena.
- At that moment, everyone downstairs was focused on her too.
- Even Evan was waiting for her response, his heartbeat suddenly picking up.
- The decision was entirely in Serena's hands now, and everyone was wondering what this famously clueless Serena would say in this situation.
- Damien narrowed his cold eyes slightly. He thought, no matter how she answers, something will show ...
- But in the next instant, Serena suddenly fainted.
- "Serena! Serena, what's wrong? Don't scare Grandpa like this!" Oscar's face went pale. "Quick, take her to the hospital!"
- The scene descended into chaos, and the engagement party abruptly ended.
- That night, in the VIP room at the hospital.
- Damien slipped in easily. On the bed, Serena was quietly asleep.
- She wasn't wearing those tacky black glasses anymore, but the freckles on her face were still there.
- Damien stood by the bedside, gazing at her face with a thoughtful expression.
- After last night's wild encounter, he knew he'd definitely left a few marks on her. Today, she'd been engaged and had makeup on, so any exposed skin had been covered with powder, hiding any visible traces.
- But he suspected that in certain sensitive spots, some marks might still be visible.
- His gaze moved from her face to her neck, her collarbone, and then slowly downward, stopping at a particular curve of her chest.
- Thinking about the previous night's frenzy, his eyes darkened. He hadn't expected to lose control so completely.
- It was the first time in his 24 years. Initially, he'd gotten involved because someone had drugged her, but after that, it was him, over and over, who couldn't stop.
- The feeling had been intoxicating, completely overwhelming.
- He exhaled quietly and looked away.
- Even though he suspected she might be that person, he wasn't about to strip her clothes off to check.
- "No ... don't ... don't ... " Serena murmured from the bed, her brows knitting together in distress, her expression pained and struggling.
- Damien paused, realizing she was just talking in her sleep, though she didn't look like she was faking it.
- Don't?
- Don't what?
- "Don't ... don't leave me. Don't leave me alone." Serena was trapped in a nightmare, her brows knitting even tighter, her face filled with anguish.
- It had been five years since her mother, Regina Silva, had passed away, yet Serena would still dream about her from time to time—especially the way Regina had looked before she died.
- Her father, Douglas, had died in an accident before she was born. Back then, the Wrens hadn't accepted Regina and hadn't even known about Serena's existence.
- So, until she turned 15, it had always been just her and Regina against the world. She couldn't understand why Regina, who had been fine, had suddenly passed away.
- How could Regina have left her alone like that?
- Don't leave her? Was she talking about Liam? Was she in so much pain because he hadn't shown up today? Damien thought, remembering the way that woman had left this morning, so casually, so full of smugness and arrogance. His eyes narrowed slightly.
- "Don't ... don't leave me alone ... " Whether it was out of fear or deep pain, her body curled up instinctively, pulling her loose hospital gown along with her.
- Damien's eyes flashed. After last night's wildness, he'd touched every inch of her skin, and he clearly remembered the tattoo on her left waist.
