Chapter 3 The New Secretary

• The last place I wanted to be was Orion Corporation.
• Unfortunately, it was the only place that paid my bills.
• The next morning came too fast.
• It felt like I had only just closed my eyes before my alarm dragged me awake.
• I dressed carefully, wearing my usual professional corporate office outfit . A black pant and a white shirt.
• I brushed my hair back neatly and applied light makeup, just enough to hide how exhausted I looked.
• My hands trembled slightly as I grabbed my bag and headed out.
• When I got to my company's building,my heartbeat increase rapidly.
• I walked through the entrance, forcing myself to breathe normally, to look like nothing had changed.
• The elevator journey felt endless.
• I was feeling nervous. It was as if each floor I passed was bringing me closer to him .
• Closer to the moment i couldn't forget.
• When the door finally opened, I walked out slowly.
• The scene being displayed in front of me made me cold .
• Several employees stood nearby pretending to work while clearly watching the drama unfold.
• At the center of it,
• A woman in a tight red dress was kneeling in front of Ethan Dennis with tears in her eyes.
• Crying and begging.
• " Mr Dennis please give me one last change, I won't do it again''.
• ''I have learnt my mistake please ", she continued pleading.
• That was the CEO's personal secretary.
• The woman kept pleading desperately.
• " Please sir , I need this job'' .
• "You are fired".
• The deep male voice cut through the entire floor like a blade.
• The woman fell silent immediately..
• Two security guards stepped forward and helped her out .
• I was curious. "What happened ? ". I whispered to Sharon the head of my Marketing Department who was standing nearby .
• " You didn't hear?.
• I shook my head " The CEO's personal secretary tried to seduce the CEO, and now she is being fired ", she chuckled.
• He walked up to Maria, the head of secretary department.
• " Never hire someone like that again ", he strictly warned.
• Maria nodded quickly.
• " I'm sorry Mr Dennis, I will notify the HR to hire someone new immediately", . She replied , her tone respectful .
• I walked towards my desk with my head down, trying not to look at him.
• But just as I passed him . Seems the CEO felt something familiar, he couldn't remember.
• "Hey you ! . He called out .
• " Shit ! . I murmured within my breath For seconds I didn't make a move. I stood there.
• Please.. please Don’t remember.Don’t recognize me.
• Don’t say anything.Because if he does , I was definitely going to be fired Same way instantly.
• ''Come here''.He ordered. I took few steps towards him but I was still a bit far from him.
• '' Look up ".He ordered again.
• Slowly I lifted my head.
• And here I was.
• Standing right in front of him .
• He looked straight into my eyes.
• For a moment , I felt he remembered it .
• My heart slammed against my chest as I quickly looked away.
• He walked towards me immediately.
• ' Good Morning M_ Mr De_ Dennis ", I stammered .
• My voice betrayed me completely.
• He held my ID card on my neck.
• '' Olive Andy ".He looked up.
• He studied me for few seconds.
• '' You would be my new secretary ", he said. Beside us , Maria stepped forward immediately.
• '' But Mr Dennis, she works at the Marketing department", Maria told him.
• " Not anymore "
• The CEO turned and left with his assistant without further words.
• '' Did he not recognize me ", I asked myself . Still confused.
• '' You got lucky ", Maria said as she approached to my desk .
• '' But why did he pick me ".I asked still confused.
• '' It's because you are not pretty, and you don't have what it takes to seduce him ", Maria replied as she walks away.
