Chapter 5 Return to School

  • "What's on your mind?" Olivia asked.
  • Ethan shook his head and pulled out a candy, offering it to her. "You barely ate anything at dinner. You're bound to be starving later, so take this."
  • As the Crimson Shadowblade of Shadowclaws, Olivia was used to being on her own. She glanced at the candy in Ethan's hand but didn't immediately react. After a brief pause, she took it.
  • "You should really consider losing some weight. You have no idea how awful people talk about you. Doesn't it bother you?" Ethan added.
  • Olivia looked at the candy in her hand, feeling warmth toward this younger brother she hadn't asked for.
  • "I used to not care about their nonsense, but since they've pushed their luck, there's no reason for me to be polite. I'll deal with those who've messed with me," she said calmly.
  • He just assumed she was talking big after hitting her head. After all, she was only the lowest-ranked omega—there was no way she could stand up to the higher-ranking werewolves.
  • "I'm heading to my room." Before leaving, Olivia cast another glance at Ethan's injured left foot.
  • I can heal Ethan's foot.
  • She lay on the bed, eating candy, her brows furrowed as she stared at the cobwebs covering the ceiling beams. The air was thick with tiny floating particles. Aside from a few grueling missions, Crimson Shadowblade hadn't stayed in such a terrible place before. Despite her warrior origins, her lifestyle had always been extravagant, even more so than the Alphas of many mid-sized packs.
  • Melisenna's constant talk of money echoed in her mind. Crimson Shadowblade had been part of the Shadowclaws since she was young, wielding wealth, power, and influence. Any fortunes she had accumulated while undercover could quickly rebuild an entire pack.
  • Unfortunately, my soul is now trapped in this body. All those titles, wealth, and power are out of my reach. I can't even access the money. But it doesn't matter; whenever I want, all of that will be mine for the taking.
  • Olivia quickly adapted to her new environment and identity. After resting at home for two days, she was ready to head back to school.
  • At the break of dawn, she went out for a morning run. She could tolerate everything about the new life of Crimson Shadowblade, but the extra weight she was carrying was something she just couldn't accept.
  • I can't even think about revenge right now—I can barely move, and any minor threat would be too much to handle. Vali can't always be around to help, so to avoid unnecessary trouble, I'll have to rely on myself to deal with whatever risks may come. That's why I need to recover my physical strength as soon as possible and prepare for my eventual showdown with the Shadowfang Pack.
  • After working up a sweat, Olivia returned utterly exhausted. She quickly showered, changed into her uniform, and headed out. She spotted Ethan waiting at the door with his backpack when she stepped outside.
  • In the original memory, it was Ethan's first time waiting for her to go to school.
  • Ethan, also experiencing his own 'first time,' felt a bit awkward. He awkwardly muttered, "Let's go."
  • After that, he walked ahead alone.
  • During Olivia's recovery over the past couple of days, Ethan repeatedly entered her room with math problems. After witnessing her extreme methods firsthand, he was fully convinced of what she had said—she was lazy.
  • I've heard of another pack with a strange werewolf who pretended to be mute for decades to avoid social interactions and nosy spouses. It seems like Olivia is the same way—she's purposely hiding her true strength to keep things simple!
  • "What should we have for breakfast? I don't have any money on me," Olivia asked.
  • "Mom gave me… we have 0.75. I'll buy some bread later," Ethan said, pulling out 0.75 from his pocket and handing it to her. "If you want something else, that's fine too."
  • Olivia knew that this money wasn't meant for her. She didn't mind. "Just bread is fine."
  • "Did you go for a run this morning?" Ethan asked.
  • "Yeah, trying to lose weight," Olivia replied.
  • "You'll look really beautiful once you lose the weight," he said, slightly embarrassed as he turned away.
  • Olivia noticed his flushed ears and couldn't help but smile. Ethan is quite adorable.
  • As they entered the school gate, the two went their separate ways to their respective teaching buildings.
  • The tranquil and safe campus was a rare sight for Crimson Shadowblade, who was accustomed to living on the edge and fighting for survival.
  • When Olivia appeared, the previously noisy classroom fell eerily silent, and everyone turned to look at her.
  • Whispers soon began.
  • "That fat pig is back at school so soon. Looks like she didn't get hurt too badly."
  • "Do you know how she fell? She was so nervous when she saw Yorell Campbell's handsome face that she missed a step and tumbled down the stairs."
  • "I know. I was right there, too. There was this huge crash, and I thought it was an earthquake, haha."
