Helena resumed her work at the clinic the next day without hesitation and everyone couldn’t hide their gladness that she was still ready to treat them even after the mess that had happened. An old woman whose grandson was part of those being treated staggered forward with a packed box of apples in her hands.
“Thank you for not giving up on us, I know how hard it must have been but you still came back. This is my little gratitude since I have no money to pay for the bills” the poor woman stated, her eyes filled with gratitude.
She was not comfortable with the gift since she trusted no one and turned it down immediately.
