Chapter 5
- Five years later...
- Aurora’s POV
- I had that nightmare again.
- Those nauseating hands roaming over my body, those aggressively blue eyes, and that mysterious man aiming the gun at my forehead.
- The dream then shifted to the moment I ran out of the club.
- I thought I had escaped all the suffering. I thought I could start a new life with my baby in some unknown place. But then a car quickly emerged from a corner and the next moment I was thrown out, crashing heavily to the ground.
- When I woke up again, I was already lying in a hospital room. My parents told me that because of the accident, I lost my baby.
- Not long after, encouraged by my parents, my boyfriend Liam and my sister Scarlett got engaged. To prevent me from causing trouble, my parents actually hired someone to take me to Mexico.
- It took 5 years to make my way back.
- For all these years, I thought the pain would gradually fade away, but it didn't. My nightmares constantly reminded me of everything I had been through.
- Hatred sprouted in my heart, and I swore I would go back and make them all pay!
- Suddenly, my phone rang, waking me up from the nightmare.
- I received a message, so I rubbed my eyes and reached for my phone on the bedside table. Olivia's name was displayed on the screen.
- Seeing her name, I let out a sarcastic chuckle. "Looks like I'm in trouble again."
- After Scarlett got engaged, she became a popular actress.
- Coincidentally, acting was also my biggest dream in life.
- I once gave up my dream for Liam, simply because he said his family couldn't accept his future wife being in the limelight.
- Ironically, after he got engaged to Scarlett, they helped and supported her in every way.
- But this time it's different.
- I'm going to defeat Scarlett.
- "Olivia, is there anything?"
- "Aurora, I want to ask you if you applied for the female lead role in Land Under Heaven?"
- "Yes."
- "You!"
- I heard Olivia's gritted teeth voice, but the expected rage didn't come. She took a deep breath, "There's a dinner gathering tonight at 7, and the director of Land Under Heaven will be there. Since you applied, just come and make an appearance. It's a good opportunity."
- Her response was somewhat unusual. Maybe she was plotting something again, but she was still my agent for now, so I couldn't completely anger her.
- "Alright, I'll be there on time."
- After hanging up, I received a text from Olivia with the details of the dinner location. I instinctively furrowed my brow.
- After returning to the country, with my looks and solid acting skills, Olivia singled me out and successfully signed me with the world's largest company, Starlight Entertainment. But afterward, she constantly made things difficult for me. I suspected it was because of Scarlett.
- Regardless, I had to be careful at tonight's dinner.
- As night fell, I arrived at the agreed dinner location, Eton Bar.
- It's a top-tier entertainment club, a large-scale establishment that combines dining, accommodation, and entertainment all in one place.
- I looked around but couldn't find the VIP room number Olivia had sent. The restaurant staff noticed my confusion and kindly showed me the way.
- Finally, we arrived at the entrance to the basement's cold storage room.
- As I realized something was wrong and was about to turn away, I saw Olivia.
- "Do you know why I wanted to see you?" she asked casually as she approached me.
- "Because of Land Under Heaven?"
- "The Wayner family invested thirty billion... Anyway, you won't get the role. It's better to give up the opportunity and let Scarlett have it. It would make you look more sensible."
- Olivia, my agent, was actually advising me to give up auditioning for this highly sought-after role in various major entertainment companies.
- I wasn't surprised by this, but I raised an eyebrow slightly and asked, "Did Scarlett send you to find me? Is she afraid that an unknown and insignificant actress like me will steal her role?"
- "What nonsense are you talking about, Aurora? I'm just worried that as a relatively unknown 18th-tier actress, going against the powerful Wayne family might affect your future prospects. I'll find you other supporting roles, just wait for my call."
- "Since you know I'm under your management, Olivia, you should support me. I've been eyeing the lead role in Land Under Heaven for a while now, and I'm going to audition for it no matter what," I said firmly.
- "Aurora, I don't have time to argue with you. If you can't understand my words, then don't blame me!"
- Before I could respond, I felt a strong force as Olivia grabbed my long hair and, unexpectedly, dragged me into the cold storage room behind her.
- With a loud bang, the door was slammed shut.
- Once again, I found myself enveloped in darkness.
