Chapter 12 Face Blindness

  • "She has a point. I'll let her take charge of this ad campaign," Leon said. With a frosty gaze, he swirled the pen in his hand again.
  • "What! You're letting her take charge? Including the selection of the spokesperson for this campaign?" Jake's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. If it were just the two of them, he would surely have yelled.
  • "Is there a problem?"
  • "Of course, there's a problem. If we go by her standards, Lucy definitely won't be chosen." Jake deliberately brought up Lucy, feeling that Leon's approach to this matter was peculiar.
  • "Next, I will demonstrate how to show off one's figure both appropriately and uniquely. Please, interviewer, I hope you can show me the least amount of respect," she said, glancing at Leon. The message was clear; she demanded those two stop whispering among themselves.
  • The female interviewer on the right almost fell off her chair. She was appalled by the woman with the harsh voice, who accusatorily glared at them and openly accused her superiors.
  • Clara had a smile on her face. She noticed the tea pot beside her. Her manner was full of poise and grace.
  • Whenever she extended her arms and walked gracefully, each move beautifully accentuated the curves of her waist.
  • Clara held the teapot and approached Leon. She said, "The action of pouring tea, where to place the arms, the lifting process—it can all show off one's figure. Our country, Lordran, has always emphasised etiquette and culture; starting from this point, it can have a very different effect. Mr. Wood, why don't you give it a try?"
  • Leon noticed the fair skin on her arms as she poured the tea. All of a sudden, he reached out to grab her wrist.
  • "Your arm's complexion is different from your face." Leon's eyes narrowed inquisitively.
  • "Of course, it's different. Would the skin tone on your face match the colour of your abs?" she retorted.
  • Jake immediately looked at Leon's waist. His body was properly dressed in a shirt and suit; she knew he had abs from the first time she saw him.
  • Leon looked into her eyes. He abruptly stood up, but his hand still gripped her hand tightly. He asked, "What's your name?"
  • She replied, "Kara Robson."
  • Jake felt a chill in his heart.
  • He found Leon was acting strange, as he fixated on this Ugly Betty and even asked for her name. This woman, however, shared a surname with that other woman.
  • "Kara?" Leon's eyes narrowed and were full of inquiry.
  • She intentionally tilted her head and batted her eyes at him in a flattering manner. "Yes, that's right. I'm Kara."
  • His frown deepened at her expression. Leon commanded, "Report to the planning department tomorrow. You're in full charge of the company's new product ad campaign."
  • "No problem. But before that, please let go of my hand."
  • The interviewer on the right widened her eyes in surprise. This was supposed to be an interview for an advertising model, so how did it turn into a planning department interview?
  • "Mr. Wood, Lucy is waiting for you," Jake added, stirring the pot.
  • "Lucy? I don't know her," he said, releasing Clara's hand and closing the folder. His tone was indifferent.
  • Jake's mouth agaped in such a dramatic manner that he disregarded his image. "Lucy is your scandalous girlfriend, isn't it? The media's been covering it for a month. She's often shown up at the office. You still don't remember? I've been telling you that you've got a condition called face blindness, but you wouldn't believe it."
  • "Face blindness?" Clara turned her head and asked in puzzlement.
  • "Yeah, he can't remember women's faces. He only remembers his mother's face. No matter how many times he sees other women, he keeps forgetting," Jake said, deliberately omitting one woman.
  • In fact, besides his mother's face, Leon remembered one other woman.
  • Clara couldn't believe it. How could Leon have face blindness?
