Chapter 2 Lady Luck

  • Aurora’s POV:
  • I stood there, dazed, rubbing my forehead, feeling totally lost.
  • “Doe, tell me—should I be happy or upset about this?”
  • “Definitely happy. A gift like this is crazy rare.”
  • I forced a bitter smile. “But that also means the dreams I’ve been having these past few days might not just be dreams… The day after tomorrow, the Sharp Family is coming to take me back. I heard their daughter’s name is Evelyn…”
  • “Uh…”
  • My wolf, Doe, looked a bit awkward, not sure how to respond.
  • It already knew about all the dreams I’d been having.
  • “Maybe… we shouldn’t go back?”
  • “No way!” I snapped. I couldn’t just throw away everything we’d planned because of some premonition.
  • “If this is real, I’ll face it head-on. The Sharp Family’s treated me well—I don’t mind paying them back a little. And if things turn out like in the dreams… well, don’t say I didn’t warn you!”
  • “Aurora, I’ll always be by your side,” Doe whispered, trying to comfort me.
  • “Tomorrow, I’ll go say my final goodbye to my foster mom.”
  • **Cemetery**
  • “Mom, I’ve been good. I found a family. From now on, I’ll just be a normal girl—go to school, get married, live a happy life. So please, rest easy.”
  • I laid down a bunch of my foster mom’s favorite daisies and stared blankly at the tombstone.
  • “K-sama!” Henry, my servant, held an umbrella over me and whispered, “The Alpha of the Redrock Pack came begging for medicine again. His youngest son is really sick—probably doesn’t have much time left…”
  • Henry’s been with me for years, my foster mom’s last gift to me.
  • I called him “Uncle Yao” affectionately. He handled all the outside business for Lunaris Laboratories.
  • I looked down at the raindrops on my fingertips. “Tell him, if he’s willing to let his son be a test subject, I can give him a bottle of the cure. We don’t get many cases of this bloodline infection…”
  • “Yes, ma’am!”
  • “Henry, while I’m gone, the lab’s in your hands.”
  • Henry bowed even lower. “It’s my honor to serve you!”
  • “But… you really don’t want me to send a bodyguard with you?”
  • “No need. I heard Betty Cooper, the daughter of the Emberfang Clan, is also in L City. I once saved her grandmother. If things get rough, I’ll reach out to her.”
  • “And your official identity…”
  • I thought for a moment. “Set me up as a pharmacist assistant at Lunaris Laboratories.”
  • The name Lunaris Laboratories carried serious weight in the werewolf clans. Even the strongest Alphas had to show respect to anyone from the lab.
  • “`
  • A regular pharmacy assistant—yet someone even ordinary werewolves respected. After all, nobody dared to cross a person who could brew life-saving potions.
  • “Right away, my King!”
  • “Henry, from now on, you gotta call me ‘Miss’ when we’re around others!” I teased with a grin.
  • “Of course, my Miss!”

  • Night had fallen, and I struggled to sit up in bed.
  • “Oh, Doe, if I don’t fall asleep soon, I swear I’m gonna drop dead!”
  • “But the moment I close my eyes, I’m dragged into that damn prophetic dream…” I buried my head in my hands, losing my mind.
  • Getting the Moon Goddess’s blessing was a rare gift. It meant I had a special bloodline power.
  • Stronger than even the tribe’s Alpha blood, but with a hell of a downside.
  • Obviously, my downside was these damn nightmares that kept me wide awake.
  • “Darling Aurora, you’re way too stressed out. You seriously need to chill. I heard there’s a pretty cool bar in town. Maybe you should numb your nerves with some booze?”
  • “You’re right!” I flipped off the covers in one smooth move. “Tonight, I’m gonna sleep like a rock!”
  • **Small Town Bar**
  • It was already 1 a.m. when I pushed open the bar’s door, and a blast of deafening music hit me.
  • The dance floor was packed with a wild crowd.
  • Just as I was soaking up the electric vibe, a voice cut through the noise with a surprise shout.
  • “Surprise! Beautiful lady!” The bartender’s voice boomed, turning every head toward me.
  • “You’re tonight’s 52nd guest, and you get VIP treatment! Let’s hear it for our Lady Luck tonight!”
  • No sooner had he spoken than the whole bar erupted. Whistles and cheers came from every corner.
  • Turns out it was party night, and I’d lucked out as the 52nd guest—meaning I got to drink for free.
  • I didn’t really care about the money, but who wouldn’t want to be Lady Luck?
  • “Looks like today’s my lucky day!” I smiled, sharing the moment with my wolf, Doe.
  • “Absolutely, babe. You’ve always been my Lady Luck.”
  • Before I knew it, a bunch of handsome male models crowded around me, dancing close to the beat.
  • The bartender told me I could pick any one of them to spend the night with—that was part of the Lady Luck deal.
  • I didn’t say yes or no. Instead, I just lost myself in the wild music and the buzz of the alcohol, dancing like crazy.
  • Only when I was completely wiped out did I stagger over to the VIP lounge they’d set up for me.
  • “`
  • “Oh man, Doe, I should’ve listened to you and come earlier! That gigolo just now was insanely hot.”
  • I burped, still drunk, talking to Doe who was just as wasted.
  • “You should’ve just dragged him up here and hooked up with him! That lean waist looked like it packed some serious power!”
  • “You’re right. Just wait—wait till I go back and find him!”
