Chapter 1 A Suffocating Nightmare
- Aurora’s POV:
- The wind howled past my ears, cold and relentless. Blood kept dripping from the wound in my stomach.
- I was running for my life, pushing forward with everything I had. Behind me, a pack of huge gray wolves was closing in, relentless.
- “Aaargh—”
- A low growl ripped through the air, and one of them lunged forward suddenly.
- “Slash!” Sharp claws tore into my back, ripping open a bloody wound.
- “Ugh…”
- I lost my balance and crashed hard into the snow.
- Blood mixed with melting snow, spreading out beneath me. I struggled to lift my head.
- Through blurry eyes, I saw Evelyn slowly walking toward me.
- She wore a white ermine cloak, and against the swirling snow, she looked like some cold goddess of winter—beautiful, but utterly untouchable.
- “Aurora, why aren’t you running anymore?” She crouched down and gently brushed her hand across my cheek.
- “You drugged me!” My voice was hoarse, not a question but a cold accusation.
- The bond between me and my wolf, Doe, was completely severed. I couldn’t call my wolf spirit back.
- I stared hard at her beautiful but venomous face. I didn’t get it—I never hurt her. So why was she doing this to me?
- Evelyn smirked, like she could see right through me. “Don’t look at me like that. Blame yourself for coming back! As long as you’re alive, you’re a constant reminder that my identity is a lie! That my mother stole it from you with dirty tricks. The Sharp Family’s eldest daughter will always be a joke.”
- She said this as she pulled a dagger from her sleeve.
- “But that’s about to change.” Her eyes went wild. “Your family, your identity… from today on, they’ll all be mine! The Moon Goddess only protects the final winner. And you? You’re going to be the perfect sacrifice on my way to the crown.”
- Before I could even react, she plunged the dagger into her own body.
- I was frozen, stunned. Then suddenly, the bloody dagger was in my hand!
- Evelyn took two steps back, yanked off her expensive cloak, and threw it over me.
- Then she ripped open her own collar with a fierce tug.
- “Ahhh—!”
- “Help! Aurora, you’re crazy! Why would you do this?!”
- Her scream was like a signal.
- The gray wolves that had been chasing me just moments ago instantly stopped and formed a protective wall behind me, growling fiercely at Evelyn.
- “Stop!”
- “Evelyn!”
- A dozen luxury cars screeched to a halt right in front of us.
- “`
- The car door swung open, and I watched with my own eyes as my real parents and a bunch of brothers swarmed around Evelyn like a pack of wolves.
- “Dad, Mom, big brother… help me!” Evelyn’s voice trembled, her shoulder bruised and bleeding. “Aurora’s gone crazy. She had Rogue kidnap me and tried to have them assault me. She said I don’t deserve to be a Sharp Family daughter! It hurts so bad! Waaah…”
- My oldest brother, Logan, couldn’t hold back anymore. His eyes scanned the wolves behind me, then locked onto the dagger in my hand.
- Fury blazing, he stormed over in a few steps, kicked the dagger flying out of my hand, and slammed his foot down hard on my fingers.
- “Bitch! How dare you hurt Evelyn!”
- “N-no… it wasn’t me…” I whimpered, trembling in pain. “Logan, please let go…”
- But he pressed down even harder.
- “A venomous woman like you—why the hell should you even have hands?”
- Crack!
- The sickening sound of bones breaking echoed clearly. One by one, Logan crushed every finger on my hand.
- “Ah—!”
- Pain exploded through me, and I couldn’t help but scream.
- I’m a damn good healer. I’ve saved countless lives with these hands—including his, my big brother Logan.
- That one time, Logan took me and Evelyn to a business event, and we got attacked.
- Some lunatic stabbed Logan’s eye with a silver dagger.
- I grabbed the blade barehanded, ignoring the burn from the silver, and treated him in time to save his eye.
- Because of that, I still have a scar on the webbing of my right hand.
- And now, without a second thought, he was ruining these hands.
- His gaze shifted back to the few behind me.
- Those gray wolves had called back their wolf spirits the moment they saw Logan attack me.
- Now, they were pitifully kneeling in the snow, begging for mercy.
- “Master Logan! We were forced into this. Miss Aurora kidnapped our families and threatened us to kidnap Miss Evelyn, but we never meant to hurt her!”
- “N-no… I didn’t,” I weakly protested.
- Logan didn’t even listen. His disgust deepened. “If that’s true, then she deserves what you did! Whatever you were ordered to do to Evelyn, do it all back to her. No mercy!”
- My real parents didn’t even spare me a glance. They carefully bundled Evelyn into the car and left without looking back.
- The Rogues closed in on me again, cruel smiles spreading across their faces.
- “I’ve never tasted a noble lady before.”
- “Haha, brother, today’s our chance.”
- “Really gotta thank Miss Evelyn for this!”
- “N-no… don’t come any closer!”
- Countless filthy hands clawed at my ankles, ripping at my clothes, dragging me down into the abyss…
- “Ah—!”
- I jolted awake, gasping for air, sweat pouring down my forehead.
- “Oh! Babe, Aurora, what’s wrong? Did you have that nightmare again?”
- My wolf, Doe, asked with concern.
- I shut my eyes tight, but that sinking feeling of despair wouldn’t let go.
- “Doe, am I sick? Why do I keep having these weird dreams?”
- After several sleepless nights, dark circles were already creeping under my eyes.
- Barefoot, I slid out of bed and gently pushed open the window.
- Bright moonlight spilled inside, a full moon hanging high in the night sky.
- I looked up at the moon and took a deep breath.
- “Ugh…” A wave of dizziness hit me, almost making me fall out the window.
- “God, Aurora, look at your forehead!” Doe shouted, alarmed.
- Confused, I grabbed the mirror from the dresser at Doe’s urging.
- Right then, a sudden heat flared across my forehead, and a crescent-shaped mark flashed before my eyes.
- I stared at my reflection, stunned.
- “It’s your bloodline gift! Babe, you’ve awakened the ancient Moon God bloodline—Precognition!” Doe’s voice was bursting with excitement.
