• I paced around the room after the meeting ended. Killian had taken Shadow and Maximo away and had come back already. He and Jack had gone to check with the boys. I wasn't at rest and so I had checked on Laura and the child countless times already. I finally signed the deal with the Mafia and I can't even tell Laura about it. she must not find out about it or she would not be so pleased with me. I know I had promised her to not get the help of the Mafia.
• I had promised her to lay low but I couldn't just sit and not do anything. I had to protect her and this was the only way I could keep her safe. my cell phone rings and I go to it hurriedly just in case it's an important call but the number on the phone wasn't one I was familiar with. it was an unknown number.
