• I sat across from Serena at the pub, both of us holding our drinks. For a moment, neither of us spoke. The noise around us filled the silence until I finally asked, "How are you feeling now?"

"I’m sure you’ve already fired her," she added, tilting her head as if expecting confirmation. "After what she did, I can’t imagine you keeping someone like Alyona around."
