• If Anthony got back last night, I certainly wasn’t aware. Not until I woke up this morning and saw the text he’d sent around 9 p.m., saying he wouldn’t be back for the night and that I shouldn’t stay up waiting for him.
• That had to be the last straw for me, and I wasn’t exactly sure why. But in my defense, in the three days Sam had been here, he didn’t stay out late. Not once. Not even on the night he’d told me that Taylor had woken up.
