Chapter 13
- The car sped through the empty streets as the first gray light of dawn touched the sky. Leo kept one hand on the wheel and the other resting on Kai’s thigh. The vial was empty now. Color had returned to Kai’s face. His breathing was steady again.
- Kai opened his eyes slowly. For a moment he just looked at Leo like he was seeing him for the first time.
- “You came back for me,” he said quietly.
