Chapter 8 Confused Emotions

  • (Nikolai's POV)
  • I was bored listening to the same reports about the resistance. The Blood Moon Pack were not the only ones crazy enough to go against me. While I was handling the matter in the blood moon pack some of my warriors were sent to the other packs to take care of them.
  • I was a thorough person when handling matters if not I would not have been the Lycan lord, alpha over one of the biggest packs that controls a large number of werewolves and the Lycan pack only second to my brother the Lycan king.
  • "In the end, we were unable to find out the reason for their revolt." My Gamma Sylus sighed. This discussion was pointless none of my warriors could determine the cause of the revolt from the other packs.
  • The door was pushed open and Casper my beta came in. He gave me a slight nod and then took a seat by my right hand.
  • ' I left them in your office.' Casper's mind linked me privately. I didn't reply and did my best to concentrate on the discussion because it was important we figure out what was happening but my mind kept on straying thinking about someone who was not meant to be there.
  • After investigating the blood moon pack, I went there because I was genuinely curious about the forgotten princess her pack was ready to let go. The moment I stepped into the pack house then it hit me the sweetest smell I had perceived before but I thought it was an illusion because she should not exist.
  • Who would have thought the forgotten princess of the Blood Moon was something special? The moment she nervously entered the office I knew she was the one but something was off I could smell it, and even my wolf recognized her but there was not any spark when we touched. It was as if she was unable to feel the bond.
  • "Alpha I think we should call it a night everyone is exhausted from the mission," Casper suggested breaking my reverie, I realized that over an hour had gone past.
  • "We would call it a night then," I announced getting up from my seat since the alpha is always the first to leave the table. The other officials and top warriors left after I stood up leaving behind Casper and Sylus who were my closest aides.
  • "I find the way Ezekiel acted strange. There is more to this revolt like someone is pulling their strings." Sylus commented everyone was in deep thought because I also had a bad premonition about it. He didn't address Ezekiel as an alpha because he was a werewolf.
  • "Do you know about a strange lost werewolf in the pack house? " someone's voice rang as she made her way into the packed hall. It was an old friend of mine Eleanora, an annoying witch who loved hanging around me.
  • "What do you mean by lost? " Casper suddenly asked taken back by Eleanore's comment. "I saw this werewolf girl lost looking for the restroom saying she was meant to meet Nikolai. I showed her the way then left." Eleanore shrugged her shoulders.
  • "You left her alone with protection in a Lycan pack." Casper barked then it hit me the person they were talking about was Zina, I wondered what trouble she was getting herself into now.
  • I immediately left the room to find her because it was not safe for her to be alone at this time. On the way, I suddenly felt a mild discomfort in my heart like panic. There was only one person whose emotions could affect me and it was that troublemaker. Disregarding others I sprinted away to find her by tracking her scent which was particularly easy for me because of who she was to me.
  • When I found her being pinned against the wall by one of my drunk warriors, my grey eyes turned gold and my wolf lost it. I was unable to hold him back as he made his way out and sprinted towards them. The warrior was stunned by my growl and froze in place. Everyone one of my pack members knew how bad my bloodlust was.
  • The only thing that mattered was her well-being and it broke me to see how scared and wary she was. It was like the gates of hell were opened and my gold eyes glowed. It didn't care if it was my warrior or not. I just wanted to tear him apart.
  • His head was ripped apart by my claws but it was not enough to pacify my anger. ' Take her away.' My voice boomed via mind link to Casper. Zina was already too stunned to see any more gory scenes it would be more than she could handle.
  • After Zina was dragged away I let my anger fully take control and rip him to shreds, piece by piece but it was not enough. It was like the devil was out looking for blood.
  • I let out another menacing growl and sprinted out of the pack house. Unless my bloodlust was reduced I won't be able to think straight. I ran to a close by forest and killed whatever came across me. This went out for hours until my wolf calmed down a bit.
  • My snow-white fur was now dyed red, there was a river close to this location so I went for a dive. After swimming wash away the blood from the fur. I came out of the river and shifted back to my human form. Unlike werewolves, Lycan's clothes don't shred when we shift. Our shifting process was more magical than physical.
  • I still had my clothes from earlier but it was completely drenched in water. I sat under the moon trying to understand why I lost my control so easily and why she had such a strong hold on me it felt like a curse.
  • ' it is because she is the one.' I heard my wolf scoff in my mind. I ignored him because of how he acted earlier making me lose control. He knew what he did pissed me off and didn't bother me further. Casper tried mind-linking me but I blocked him out needing some time alone and more importantly I had to see her if she was okay. My wolf was trying to control himself but his desires were affecting me.
  • So finally I relented and went to the apartment arranged for them. I easily found her due to her scent that kept calling to me and got into the room through the open window of her room.
  • What was she thinking leaving her window open while she slept forgetting where she was? My eyes soften spotting her sleeping peacefully on the bed. I took a seat opposite and began to watch her.
  • Seeing her before me made all my raging emotions calm down and I could think clearer. ' what is Selena thinking?' I asked myself wondering what that moon goddess thought by putting me in this situation. How can a mate bond be one-sided? I didn't even ask for a mate because I had already given up.
  • How can a weak worthless forgotten werewolf princess be my mate when she can not even handle the sight of blood and she was meant to walk by my side? Selena must be laughing at me wherever she was now.
  • Her calm breath turned rough and her brows furrowed seeming like she was suffering from a nightmare as she started releasing laboured breath. "It is not my fault he was killed," she cried from her sleep. My heart felt unease realizing she was being tormented by my actions but I was equally disappointed at how weak-hearted she was. To be crying in her sleep, I wanted to rush to her side and coax her to sleep but that would be weird.
  • I was already acting out of character while stalking her like this. Her eyes suddenly popped open and she screamed. I hoped her voice didn't wake anyone up but she went silent immediately she caught the sight of my gold eyes that glowed in the dark because my wolf was the one in control.
  • I could hear her heart beating wildly, her hands clutched the bed covers and she shook seeing me in her house. It was amusing how scared she was like a mouse, I enjoyed her terror the same time didn't like the fact she was scared of me. It was like my mind was split and that was the exact was happening my wolf and I were not on the same page when it came to her.
  • "Who are you? " She asked with her voice shaking scared by my presence. A feeling I had grown accustomed to, most werewolves and even Lycan could not stand my presence. I was the blood tyrant and the god of war after all that's what they called me.
  • "I find it sad you are unable to recognize me. You don't have to be scared I won't hurt you at least not now." I smirked at her, I don't know if she could see my face but werewolves were meant to have night vision but this princess didn't. If not for her scent and heartbeat she would have been mistaken for a human.
  • "Please don't hurt me." She suddenly cried bursting into tears.
