Chapter 24 New Beginnings

• "Ava!" he called again, louder this time, his voice cracking despite the cheers still echoing throughout the arena. His heartbeat pounded painfully against his ribs.
• No... she couldn't disappear again. Not after he'd finally seen her. He slowed to a stop, turning in every direction, but all he saw were strangers walking past. The hope that had filled his heart only moments ago slowly began to crumble. He lowered his head, dragging a shaky hand through his damp hair before letting out a broken laugh at himself. "I really am losing my mind..." he whispered. Maybe he had imagined her. Maybe he'd wanted to see her so badly that his heart had played tricks on him again.
